Should we concentrate now on blooding younger players and giving them experience at playing at this level? Appreciate we are having to do that anyway at the moment due to injuries.
If so who would be the two or three players you would all pick that you would like to see given more time on the pitch.

I'm shocked we are already declaring the season over - Who wouldn't like a few extra games in the play offs even if its just for the money. I don't think we are anywhere like near ready for promotion but would be good to get close as possible.

I wouldn't write this season off yet, OK we are missing a few players but we have more than enough cover, the team picked Saturday was more than good enough for this level and is a chance to give a few kids a go off the bench

Exactly Dave. I just don’t get the idea that we’ve downed tools or are planning to down tools.
I think a certain Mr J Dunne as well as others including the manager might disagree with this assessment. Otherwise why bring in a new striker. We’ve probably got enough points to coast a bit if all we wanted to do was stay up but we’ve brought in Ronnie and JO in January which suggests to me we’re still going for it. |  | | |

Only takes three or four wins to change your position in the league.
Having said that I wouldn’t mind seeing people off the bench. Adamson and Esquerdinha as wingers added a bit of oomph against Stoke. Wouldn’t mind that again while we’re missing so many. |

I am not suggesting we have downed tools. Actually, if you blood younger players, they have an awful lot to play for.
The philosophy is to develop and sell, in order to do that, the younger players need to be playing.
Unlikely to go up or down, for me not going down or being near a relegation scrap is a massive relief and progress.
The point of the thread was more along the lines of who would you give a chance rather than any negativity around the season.
My key 3 would be:
Walsh, as someone said on another post....not as much pressure on him and a perfect season for him to gain experience now.
Esquerdinha, with Larkeche out until next season he has the opportunity to shine or potentially see himself as 3rd choice (or sent out on loan) next season.

We're only 4 points off a play off place. There's 19 games to go and, if we approach those games with a competitive attitude, why not dream of top 6.
Sure, for now, injuries are an issue. Other clubs could have the same issue in the next 4 months.
For me, a top 10 finish is very achievable. Frankly, I don't think we are a top 6 side, but it's so close, why not? |  |

All organisations need to be wary of assuming that the current year/season is the baseline and that the next one will definitely be better.
There is no guarantee of this, especially when you're a club like QPR, so, never far away from some sort of upheaval or crisis.
We talk about how player sales can help finance the club. Well true, but nothing will boost our finances more than being promoted, so we have to push for that now, especially given how close we are to the play-offs.
By the way, I accept that if we go up this season, we could have a torrid time because the squad is far from ready for it, but we shouldn't pass up the chance. |  |

My feelings exactly. Injuries have killed this season, and if we're being honest we have exceeded expectations so far. Keep going, but I had us top half, top 10 at a push, which is very achievable.
Next season is the one where we start to challenge and been saying this for 18 months. If they sort the CM out. |
I'm hoping that finally the CM situation will be resolved. It's encouraging that we are now looking at a different profile of player. We needed power and pace and when everyone is fit, we have that. With that in mind you would hope that means they know the issues with the CM. Gorgeous Ronnie Edwards can play there too and although he might come in for Madsen from time to time, whilst Cook and Dunne are playing well, we might even see a midfield two of Madsen and Edwards. Edwards would be fine defensively but can also progress the play

I don't expect us to coast and I'm sure the manager will make sure of that (probably he has some kind of performance bonus depending where we finish in the table?)
But given current injuries and general lack of form, in so much that we win some and we lose some, I expect that we will stay very mid table. |  |

We've been very unlucky in that we had a virtually fully fit squad and in the space of a month half of it has been wiped out.
Meanwhile we're on 40 points... in January! I mean that's almost open top bus parade territory given the last 3 seasons.
