| The 3 sides of a match thread at Oxford 09:39 - Jan 20 with 23158 views | E17hoop | Someone had to start it. I just reread Clive's match report for the home game and asked myself why I'm going to this again tonight. Bare bones, DS players filling the bench, Handsome Ronnie back? He's bound to score in the 1-0 win. | |

Vale’s cross at the death was just the kind of ball we should’ve been playing in all game in those conditions. A missed opportunity. Dunne and Cook solid again, Walsh good as well. Smyth tried hard and Bennie was our best forward. Honestly thought I’d missed Dembele being substituted at HT: his second half ‘contribution’ was diabolical.
| The 3 sides of a match thread at Oxford on 22:00 - Jan 20 with 1226 views | HAYESBOY | Such a lack of quality on the ball. So frustrating to see Pro players not do the basics like getting the ball under control, get your head up before blindly hoofing the ball anywhere. 10 yard passes missed. The one quality cross right at the end by Vale has to be put away. Burrell gets to that. I suppose play shite but don't lose is a plus. Edges us on towards 50 points. Hope Esq is not a bad injury but it didn't look good. | |

| The 3 sides of a match thread at Oxford on 22:02 - Jan 20 with 1194 views | kernowhoop | In the first half I noted that the 'pressing' from our attacking players (on a night when mistakes would be made) was ineffective and - compared with what Burrell does - half-hearted. Then there were the misplaced passes and hoofed balls out of defence... ... Ah well. It was a point. | | | |

Yeah, doesn’t look like the West Brom players are having their new manager!

I noticed the medics gave him “gas and air” which isn't a good sign. Best of luck to him.

| The 3 sides of a match thread at Oxford on 22:07 - Jan 20 with 1005 views | numptydumpty | i played in games with better players and more thought and quality play in games when i played in my primary school under eights team. These blokes are on ranging from £100 grand a year to £1.5 million a year !!! If people like to moan about politicians who get maximum £200 grand a year to run the country or doctors who go on strike when they would be our lowest paid player tonight, shows why you get some games, where they could not give a flying fig !!! | |

| The 3 sides of a match thread at Oxford on 21:52 - Jan 20 by Wilkinswatercarrier | We all knew with the injuries that January would be tough, and so it is. We shouldn't be surprised. Take the point and move on. |
There’s more to life than settling for a 0-0 and that performance away to an Oxford side destined for relegation. Surely we should have higher standards, especially if we ever want this club to progress up the league a bit? I mean we won here 3-1 last year. Why wouldn’t that be the minimum expectation again? Let’s hold ourselves to higher standards than that performance. If we just “move on”, we aren’t. [Post edited 20 Jan 22:20]

| The 3 sides of a match thread at Oxford on 22:10 - Jan 20 with 945 views | 1JD | Unwatchable dirge. Several players major culprits as to why we can’t keep the ball and play actual football. Mbengue, Smyth, spring to mind, again and again, game after game. Kone also gives the ball away with alarming regularity. Far too many players in this side / squad who are nowhere near good enough on the ball. | | | |

4 points dropped if you include the home game. We've dropped 6 points against the bottom 3 this season.

I'm more than comfortable with that result. I said straight after the Sheffield Wednesday that everyone will need to remain calm as January was going to be a shocker. Unsurprisingly, some are starting to lose their sh!t. I'll pass judgement at the end of the season. Finish between 10-12th is a success.

12 points - Norwich were in the bottom three when they beat us twice
| The 3 sides of a match thread at Oxford on 22:28 - Jan 20 with 540 views | TK1 | So far, on this thread people have claimed they'd have won this game with their 5-a-side ringers, their primary school team, a local team on Canvey Island... Lads, you and they are all in the wrong jobs! You should be coaching QPR and if they won't take you then in the last couple of months Oxford have beaten Ipswich Town, Southampton, drawn with Middlesbrough and on Saturday Bristol City - one of those clubs will definitely take you and your ringers/schoolkids/Sunday league teams... Every year, when we're mired in a relegation fight everyone says, "oh for midtable mediocrity." This is it. And still only three points off the play-offs. Another clean sheet, away, take the point, move on. Big shame for Esquerdinha. Nobody in July surely expected 40 points by January 20th, did they? Stay in the pack, keep accumulating, see what we can do in the (very difficult) run-in. Nothing is decided in January. | | | |

I’m not losing my shit. Just think we should have higher standards, even with the players available tonight, than to settle for or be happy with that. Your standards seemed a lot higher last season, if I recall. Nothing last season was that bad performance wise. I agree 10th-12th would be a successful season. Top half should be the target, and I have been led to believe was the internal target. I’m not sure we’re on course for that mind, and injuries can’t be an excuse. That is part of of the challenge.

Well, yay & nay - a couple of draws away from home but I would have been tempted to jack it all in seeing that when I were a nipper.
