Duty calls and the fans have pleaded.

If Ronnie is on the pitch we've got this given Cov's own dip im form.

Heart says 2-1

Brain says 1-2

Personally would take a 0 - 0.

No sky blue feelings, we had that last weekend.

Tim Sherwood on Sky Soccer Saturday reported more than once that it was a poor quality game; also that the pitch was dreadful. We know about the pitch, but - those who were there - was the football 'poor quality'?

Sherwood Is about as Interesting as my socks.

My Father had a profound influence on me, he was a lunatic.

Must be hell on the Cov MB's at the moment. I was reading the build up stuff (for the most part fairly rational), they had noticed and acknowledged our injury list and most still weren't writing us off.

Poll: Thank God The Seaons Over.

A really enjoyable game at LR: our home form has been streets ahead of the last few seasons with plenty of goals to enjoy.
Can’t fault any of the players today: didn’t look like Bennie for Dembele was going to be the right early sub but he really grew into the game with plenty of effort and energy. Really pleased for him.
Kone’s best game for us IMO: led the line really well, put himself about, won headers and held it up for the whole game and a lovely goal.
Madsen was superb as he usually is at home: need him to replicate that on the road more often.
The four defenders were solid throughout: if we can get RND back on a free then sign him up as he is consistently decent.
And great to see Stéphan keeping three up for their corners.

How did Ronnie do?

Edwards particularly in the first half, did extremely well with getting a foot in and reading when to put in a challenge to win the ball when required.

i was impressed. Got a feeling if Cook Dunne and Edwards remain fit, all will start. Big if, i know.

Mbuenge, to come on as a sub. And somehow pulls out of the odd kamikaze challenge. But i think its part of how he plays the game and less madness may detract from his effectiveness when he is on the pitch.

But yes Edwards had a decent debut...

Thoroughly enjoyable.

At times a bit League 2 head tennis but still moments of clever, thoughtful football. Our first goal just opened them up. Coventry decent team and players just low on confidence and ideas when things got tricky.

Stéphan mentioned ambition well let them play and get on the front foot monsieur.

Surprised to see some of the negative comments today. Especially for a young player coming into the game for extended minutes. Yeh, Bennie made a mistake and Cov got a goal but he contributed to a win against a top of the league side. If young players are going to come in and we’re just going to beat them up for not being a seasoned players I’m not sure we deserve to develop players. Poor shout from some I’m afraid.

Some great performances today. Smyth - what a niggly dynamo he was today, defenders must be really frustrated playing against him, he’s like an annoying mosquito full of energy and keeps coming back at you. Back four were very good today, Dunne & Cookie strong as we expect, RND was brilliant (and he won back the ball for the first goal), enjoyed see handsome Ronnie pushing up later in the game. Madsen!! What a game - MoM. Kone had a strong game, up and down the pitch but mostly working hard up front, great to see him get that goal. Vale is going to get better and better. Some good performances today and a top result to bounce back after last week. Well done Julien and the boys. Enjoy your evening team and management. You deserve it.

As one of Kone’s biggest critics, hands up today, I thought he had a great game. Control was far better, held up the ball and layed it off to good effect. Also won his fair share of headers and took his goal well. Delighted for him.

Fantastic team effort, but I thought Vale had a great game and will blossom into a very important player for us. The lad has great vision and can pick a pass. He will complement Madsen well in this team.

Madsen showing his class again. Plays with his head up and with superb composure. Class act.

I thought Bennie did well. Missed a couple of decent chances and showed his inexperience, but gave us much needed legs down that right hand side. Should now be a permanent fixture in the first team squad.

Just back and my God that was a magnificent win especially after last week’s kick in the bollox. Fair play to Julian and the players for a well deserved massive three points. Madsen my MotM and Kone deserves a special mention for an immense display - he ran himself into the ground and was a handful all game for the Coventry CBs. Falling behind to a soft goal I feared the worst but the players stood up collectively for a thoroughly well deserved victory. Fkn immense!!! COYRs!!!!!!!!

That was fantastic and a real statement after last week. Thought Cook, Madsen, Vale and Kone in particular were excellent. What's annoyed me this season is the feeling that it's our best chance of getting in the play-offs for ages - there are no guarantees next season will be the one. Two very winnable games coming up and then some of our favourite players will be coming back. Let's go for this!

Absolutely delighted with that.
Just home now and absolutely chuffed .

I thought we played with that desire we had against Leicester. Some nice patterns of play amongst the hard yards . No one had a poor game for me with some impressive and encouraging displays . Back 4 really good against a really good attacking side . Hayden had his best game of the season . Kone big and strong with a better touch and lovely lovely goal . Vale needs to be better with his passing in deeper areas but he is a clever player and really impressed me today. Madsen with another leaders performance really .
Starting to drag this team a long at times . Was his biggest critic this time last year but absolutely love the guy. Could well be sold for good money I the summer which is not what I want but it’s a necessity.
Hate to finish on a downer , but what is it with some of our fans getting on the younger players back at the moment ? It needs to stop.
Last week a guy behind me continued to abuse Morgan until he was subbed and before I said something to him that I would regret.
Today , there was another guy doing the same to Kone up behind me in JU today . Honestly , you can have opinions and have your own thoughts on how they play or even if you think they aren’t good enough but shouting abuse to them mid game is unacceptable .
We also had from a very early stage today fans continuously moaning and groaning at anything Daniel Bennie did . Give the lad a chance for god sake .
I thought Bennie actually grew into the game and actually looked like our fittest player at the end and was continuing to cause them problems . Yes, he lost the player for the goal and he will learn. Unfortunately some of these young lads are learning on the job right now .

I was impressed with Bennie and his physicality especially.
Some of our lot just need to have a bit of patience .

Best bit about today was that Lampard couldn’t celebrate on our pitch.
Stick that up ya !!!!

I thought we were excellent today and especially through the spine of the team. The centre backs dominated their forward line, Madsen and Hayden dominated the midfield and Kone and Vale were both excellent as well. Both full backs did very well.

I thought Bennie did really well myself, I think there is a touch of the Ainsworths about him, not the most skilful, but skilful enough, not the fastest but fast enough, and what he lacks in those areas he makes up for in hard work, a great attitude, and I thought he made some really good runs in behind second half that really helped us as a team.

Hard to pick a motm probably give it to Kone because he took a big step forward in his development wit that performance today. Though Madsen is turning in 7/8/9 out of 10 performances every week, and his skill was the difference today for both goals

Sherwood Is about as Interesting as my socks.

They cut over to Sherwood and he started going on about how it was a poor game and he couldn’t see Coventry scoring and just as those words came out of his mouth they scored. He then brain farted his way out of it.

With him on one end of the pundit panel and Merson the other, it was often difficult to see who was using the North London brain cell.

Actually that’s probably a bit harsh on Merson. He doesn’t try to be anything he’s not whilst Sherwood is an imbecile trying to pretend he’s intelligent. Blokes an absolute clown, always miserable and negative.

Couldn’t make it today. Great to hear about the performance, Mart. It sounds like, and looked from the highlights like, Kone was back to his best today. That is great to hear.

How were Cook and Edwards at centre half, and Dunne at right back? Did it work?

Edwards at right back .
Dunne and cook really good .
Edwards did well but needs to get ‘match’ fit as there was one or two rough moments .
Overall really good

Not sure if Mbengue will come back in on Friday .
Hayden limped off so we might need Edwards in midfield ? Probably not . Field will play .

Dembele left on crutches too

Interesting! That tells me Stephan wants to stick with Cook and Dunne at centre half, and that’s why Edwards hadn’t played yet. Might intimate wasn’t that fussed about signing him, but let’s park that.

Great win. You have to hand it to Steve Cook. I know he’s playing for a last contract somewhere, but he’s been very good for quite a few games now. He’s played himself into Stephan’s first choice centre half pairing, hasn’t he?

Sounds like Madsen’s rebirth continues apace. Like you, one of his biggest critics last season, but what a turnaround. Fair play to him. Sounds like he was superb again.

Kone’s return to form is the most important thing all round though. For the run in, for his value, for the rest of the side.
