You've got to hand it to the PR team if they can get this puff piece published in a major newspaper.

Well that's a good bit of publicity, bit more of that and let's get him sold to the highest bidder, take the money and move on.

Well, Christian was a journalist at the Guardian earlier in his career, according to himself.

This article couldn't say less if it tried.

He went to the British museum, he walks around Windsor but hasn't bothered to go to the castle.

It's barely even a puff piece, more a siren from club and agent that he exists and we would quite like to sell him this summer for some profit please

He has also run up a hill.

Enjoyed the photo caption 'Varane gets the better of Sheffield United's Tahith Chong...' depicting Varane fouling Chong.

I'm keener on Varane than some on here but it's a shame his improvement over last season and mostly plateaued this.

Last season, Leicester away, Premier League side (albeit a poor one) he was the only one of ours who looked like he belonged with them. Sunderland away, about to be a Premier League team (albeit taking it easy that day), best player on the pitch by a mile. I said if you could get 20+ performances like that out of him this season you'd have a serious player on your hands.

Has he played as well as that once? If we're developing players to sell they do have to develop. We've got to ask ourselves some serious questions about that plateau.

The epitome of what thus squad isn’t … consistency.

Doesn’t mean I don’t like him, he’s just hot and cold. More hot dinners please. £5m+

It might just boil down to Varane and Madsen both wanting to play the same position.

The one who gets that slot looks great and the other flounders.

But that does still raise questions about our overall planning and recruitment of players.

Before we signed Varane and Madsen might we not have seen that they would both want to play the same role and we should be going for one instead of both?

A similar debate might be had about Kone and Burrell.

The analytics boys might need to refine their algorithms.

Some people rave about Varane: I don’t get it. Others coat him off all the time: I don’t get that either. I find him difficult to categorise because he has clearly got the ability to be a driving force in midfield but he always strikes me as risk averse. If you only play safe passes in low-risk areas, your stats will look brilliant but the chances of playing a defence-splitting ball are effectively zero. Likewise winning back possession in dangerous areas. Unfair comparison maybe, but look at how Madsen has changed his game from last season: he now plays quick passes around the press, receives the ball under pressure, looks to bring others into play. Varane is desperately looking to retain possession by offloading it to the defence rather than looking for a give and go, switch or forward pass.

'What do we want? We don't know! When do we want it? Now!'

I doubt he’ll be a QPR player come September, really feels like the club trying to raise his profile and get him sold. We probably need to sell him, be interesting to see if both him and Field are moved on in the summer.

Madsen and Varane might both play in centre midfield but they are polar opposites in terms of what way they want to pass the ball.

Watching him from the School End Lower last week I would have fancied myself to leg it onto the pitch and clear the high, wide ball out to Bennie he telegraphed was coming myself.

Not surprised most of the alleged interest comes from Spain where the general tempo is just that little bit slower.

Like all our players . I want them to succeed but Varane is a real worry and when he was substituted on Saturday there was some ironic cheers .
We don’t even sing his song anymore .

Stupid thing is Varane can do it - see his assist for Burrell against Southampton.
It's just so rare that I nearly fell off my seat when that happened.

He even scored a goal thing at Leicester.

He wasn't too far off one of those again last weekend.

Maybe he should try more of those rather than passing back to the keeper whenever possible?

I like Varane as a player. But id an offer comes in again around the 6m mark then we should sell.

I'd honestly sell for 20% of that. There's probably a great player in there somewhere, but it doesn't seem like it's going to surface at QPR any time soon.

Interesting comment in the WLS pod about a number of players who seem to have gone backwards compared to where they were last season..question For the manager are we getting the best out of our available squad and if not why not? varanne Kolli Morgan Saito and Walsh highlighted,
