| WE WANT NOURRY OUT SAID WE WANT NOURRY OUT on 08:31 - Mar 13 by Northolt_Rs | Interesting that LF hasn’t taken a DOF role with any other club… Just saying. |
He's a 59-year-old multi-millionaire who was employed in football at a top level nearly 40 years. He does a bit of media, lots of golf, goes on plenty of holidays...he was a DOF for ten years, being abused every week. Why on earth would he go work at, dunno, Huddersfield now? He's retired, there's probably only a job at the FA he'd take. And he'd do a much better job than Adrian Bevington, no doubt. Just saying.

Who appoints and buys all those managers, players, coaches? And who went to great pains and expense to manage the previous set of managers and coaches, including QPR diehards, out of the door to get all these guys in? Nourry is top of the food chain , hes responsible for the running of the club his experience of running anything is zero hes never run anything in his life time so how can somebody whos in charge of an organisation with around 150 employees look to make the right decisions on hiring the right person ? His own Cv. is barely two pages and thats if he include the paper round he did during his huge experience in football and journalism. hHs running the club based on what experience ? Hes settting styleof play based on what ? Hes taking people on based on what ? Hes running the club based on a theory and stats thats all not experience hes binning players of based on the same theory , Hes telling experienced players thaat they wont be playing for the club again one week them hammering in them two days before a game to bring them up to fitness only for the usual impact injury to take them out for likely the season. so yes it is all down to nourry hes broight these clowns in

Because every time a player leaves or signs, every time a coach leaves or arrives, it is Christian Nourry on the website welcoming or thanking them or sending them on their way. It's not a secret. There's only ever one official quote about any departure or arrival. So...he gets the credit and the brickbats.

| WE WANT NOURRY OUT SAID WE WANT NOURRY OUT on 08:56 - Mar 13 by JamesB1979 | It looks like there are a few new roles and if the roles aren’t being replaced, then it’s a statutory redundancy no? That shouldn’t break the bank. Nourry would be the bigger cost to remove but I would also imagine that having a separate DoF and CEO will be more costly annually anyway, so if that’s the route, just got to “eat it”. On the other coaches that would be replaced. Surely you assess them do it over time. This is a tier 2 English football club not some multi-national business with thousands of employees. 1/5 of the Saito money should do it all. |
You need to be employed for two years before you are entitled to statutory redundancy. So to take Kevin Betsy as a random example he was appointed in July 2024 and hasn't worked here long enough for statutory redundancy. Besides, statutory redundancy is peanuts compared to what these guys are probably earning. If you wanted to trim the coaching staff the notice periods in their contracts would still have to be honoured. For someone like Kevin Betsy who is quite senior in the hierarchy and could have a fairly lengthy notice period, probably 1-3 months. In Nourry's case I would be very surprised if his contract notice period was less than three months. It's probably in the 3-6 month range. But before we think about kicking people out we need a plan of how to replace them. And that will be the bigger problem. It would be easier to bring in a new CEO and/or DoF if we still had that Eze money up our sleeve and could promise the new regime some money to spend. As things stand it looks like the Eze money has gone and we will need to sell this summer before we can reinvest in the squad or the management structure. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

| WE WANT NOURRY OUT SAID WE WANT NOURRY OUT on 18:11 - Mar 12 by lassel | To be honest WWC, while you’re right that it will take time and money to manage out the door all of his people he has installed, if you binned off Nourry and Williams tomorrow you would see an instant improvement in morale around the club, at all levels from backroom staff to the players. They are both universally despised around the club. If you binned off Hoos shortly after there would be corks popping in the canteens. Now of course that doesn’t solve the wider issue, but you could install a new DOF and CEO to work with what they have and instantly see results. The issue is that Rubes doesn’t care and hasn’t cared for a long time. The club has been openly on the market for years and he has rejected several serious chances to sell the club as his exit price is completely unrealistic. |
By all accounts Reilly is still looking for US investment...

This is all true........... apart from the football world. Yes there will be a few "Club Employees" like Box Office workers etc. However, in the main people are employed on "Service Term Contracts" (or that's what I believe they are called). If you want someone out then you pay up the balance of the Contract unless there is some form of break clause you can rely on. This is why you have fcukrs like Jose Moaninho with circa £27million in the bank just from compensation payments alone. It really is the economics of the madhouse that abject failure can come with such rewards. A bit like being employed by the goverment and getting £75k for being wrapped up in alledged dodginess. Returning to the W12 Circus -- you could sack everyone with a pulse and I'm still not sure it would really make a difference unless all the new brooms have a culture reset and we start to operate at the best achieveable standards. Cannot see that happening.

| WE WANT NOURRY OUT SAID WE WANT NOURRY OUT on 02:01 - Mar 13 by numptydumpty | Well indeed. But also our previous DoF, was the right age, steeped in QPR folklore, a football man, and kept a lot of other QPR men, and football men in post also, but according to many on here too, went from Sir Les to Evil Les. At the time, i found those that were so disrespectful to a QPR legend, who was a decent DoF for me, well all those that called for the demise of "Evil" Les, the club listened to you, and you helped with the club taking this complete change around. i hated the "Evil" Les thing at the time, but those that started all that, you got a change all right. |
CEO is a different role to DoF but I take the point. Clearly age alone isn't the only criteria required to be hired for C' level roles. A proven track record of success, education, skill, intelligence, wisdom, leadership, dynamism, organisation, work ethic, charm, courage, steel, temperance, etc are all qualities you look for in a candidate, and some of these come with age and experience. I loved Les the player and his legendary status is cemented. However, Les shouldn't have been considered for the role of DoF as he lacks many of the required skills and capabilities. He was appointed to keep the fans quiet. [Post edited 13 Mar 14:19]

That being said, I bet its a short list of DoF who have taken a wage bill to turnover as mental as ours was down to an average for a Championship club... No matter what anyone says it can't have been easy negotiating with all those agents to pay off Samba, Sandro, SWP, Bosingwa and all the hundreds of others..

I'm not going to say that you are wrong or pretend that I know better but a quick online search shows that FIFA has regulations for the governance of player contracts covering a wide range of issues from registration, release for internationals, and termination, etc: https://digitalhub.fifa.com/m/ So for the sake of argument a player might be employed by one club but play for his country or go out on loan during the course of a season. Therefore the definition of "employer" can get a bit complicated from time-to-time. I don't see why this should extend to the executives, managers, or coaches just because they are employed in the same industry. As you say yourself you wouldn't employ the box office staff on that basis. So I'm not saying you are wrong, and certainly not when it comes to players, but does that really mean the CEO, manager, medical staff, and coaches are all employed on that basis? Maybe managers are. And even if they're not they have a powerful union backing them. But the CEO, Ben Williams, and the coaches?

It's literally his self-described job-description. You can watch him say it out loud in numerous interviews... He is a "Sporting Director CEO". He appoints the coaches and oversees recruitment. It's not my "opinion". It's his. I really can't believe you think this is a made up conspiracy. Or, put it this way: if he doesn't appoint the manager and oversee signings, who did? Who signs the players and appoints coaches at QPR, Gazza?

I do not know but I would expect that the Manager has a big input into any players that sign - along with others like Nourry & coaches. As for the coaches who join, I cannot see it being one person just offering contracts etc, etc. I do not know if its a conspiracy tbh but some of the things I hear, not on this MB, concerns me.

I think you may be thinking of 1995. These days a rather large number of clubs, for better or worse, the recruitment role has minimal direct input from the manager. Clubs that do it properly have a consistent philosophy for both the managers they hire and players they sign where both skillsets are aligned so that when they inevitably have to sack a manager, they don't immediately have a playing squad which doesn't fit the needs of the new manager. Or said differently, the exact opposite of what we've been doing over the last 20 years.

I'm pretty sure that in an interview at the beginning if the year this was explained - the manager has some input into the profiles of players but that's about it. The scouting team (+Nourry) return with a player. Also whatever you think of Stephan, I don't believe that any manager would go into a season with no fullbacks if he had a choice

Coach not and never will be manager . 100% truth I’m sorry to say Can u honestly belive any sane coach would have continued to play varanne this season before and after his injury hes been let’s say pony , no why would any club want to play him week in week out ? Yep he like madson was before his impact injury is a cash cow ,two reputed enquires for varanne in Jan and august play him to maximise the transfer feee , results don’t matter as long as my theory is proved correct but cheap sell high.
