So they paid £47 million to ensure they got several top players in, which without the illegal payments they wouldn't have got.
And £10 million to Chelsea is like losing the sales from cheeseburgers for most clubs. ie completely irrelevant.

I've been asking that question on here for what seems like forever.
The fine (amount) for the cheats Is Immaterial and wont affect them at all, as for the ban It's meaningless.
We had a great win on Saturday and It lifted my spirits but reading this so called punishment for the cheats Is depressing.

Give your head a wobble. Of course appropriate punishment will NEVER follow. Corruption at the highest level. If the FA and the Premier League had anything about them they would manage these top teams" out of our game and into that European/ World Super League.
We do not want them here and I suspect that the fans of the 72 League clubs feel the same.

Apparently the fine should have been £20m, but was reduced by 50% on account of Chelsea's "proactive self-reporting and co-operation with the process". Hang on. These were historical secret payments made between 2011 and 2018. How is self-reporting in 2022 proactive?
In 2023 Chelsea were also fined £8.6m by UEFA for "submitting incomplete financial information" for the period between 2012 and 2019, so not an isolated case.

When they were caught wrapped up in similar, the authorities actively tried to put them out of business and effectively relegated them out of the EFL.
Likewise I seem to recall Swindon Town were relegated the summer they got promoted for offences along these lines.
As noted above, the Faulingate case (where I cannot imagine we were innocent and fair do's a punichment is needed) we got a big old fine of £875k for a single indiscretion plus maybe a transfer window ban... can't recall on that. That was third party ownuership and an unlicensed agent... not moody payments although......
This is why, IMHO, the sooner they and their ilk sod off to the European & Dubai Super League and fully pull the ladder up the better.
Let's re-establish a playing field that's even a little bit leveller.
