And vs Villa he dives for the first shot like a granny, so slow, zero extension, zero reach. He kind goes through the motions like he's diving but it's for effect - it's long after the ball has passed him.
I think people are still misunderstanding my point - he's not 'at fault' - it's not a mistake. It's that he doesn't possess the innate ability to dive, rapidly and with agility, to make saves.
He's decent-ish in one on ones / blocks using his feet, but his shot stopping is almost non existent. With his hands he's very poor in every department.
He's got a goalkeepers kit but he isn't a goalkeeper.
Still Myke, despite all the visual and statistical evidence, would have still have him back in goal for Rangers it seems.

But this’s time next year when Charles has returned to his parent club, you it would appear are prepared to hang your hat on Ward, who, if early indications are anything to go by, will have ZERO Championship experience. A classic case of a player improving by not playing. It’s a long season, Ward may play a chunk of it, Walsh may play all of it. Let’s see where we are in 12 months. We have more pressing matters than slagging off a keeper who is not even at the club currently. | | | |

Most were not keen on Walsh being preferred consistently over Nardi. Nardi had faults but some aspects of his game he was more than adequate.
I think you will find most fans thought it was a bizarre decision by the club to decide Walsh is the number one for the season and despite a few random starts for Nardi and Hamer, they kept Walsh in goal mostly despite many dodgy displays.
The club should have protected him a lot more when his confidence was rock bottom, but throughout I think you will find most found the clubs reluctance to rest Walsh for any significant time despite poor form, incredibly bizarre.
So big yourself up as the only one to suss out poor Joe.
I hope he can resurrect his career this season. It was a strange decision made by the club and they hung out Walsh to dry literally....

Many felt it was odd how harshly we binned off Nardi after a pretty decent first year.
It was shoddy. In footballing terms alone as well, a very stupid move.

He's got some great qualities and I do love his attitude - he's clearly a good sort and ability-wise he streets ahead of many of our past strikers - BUT - Burrell is clearly the main man and as his hold up game improves it's harder to see how Kone gets in.
Kone also blows wildly hot and cold. Sometimes he looks like a pub player.
And my biggest gripe - oddly - is he really can't head a ball. Target man strikers should be good at heading.
So yeah, I'd take £10 mill and reinvest £6M or £7M in the next one. | |

We likely not get anyone anywhere near Kones qualities for that price at the end of a transfer window and we would be in need, so the selling club would put up their prices. Wheres this mystical £7 million player at least as good as Kone coming from.

Your points are valid, Numpty, but not sure why you had to get personal and call another posters opinion brainless. Obviously 10M would be a very good price for Kone and would represent a very good profit on our initial investment 12 months ago. This fits the model that has been much discussed. However, you are correct with the timing, it would give us little time to sign a replacement, even at 7m. If there is interest from Burnley (or anyone else), but Kone is happy to stay, then we would be wiser to wait until January and spend the next few months identifying his successor. Of course if we are top by Christmas and Kone is the divisions top scorer all bets are off! | | | |
