I think the club dont need to rush Obikwu back now with the strength of the squad. Especially only playing Kone or Burrell now instead of both of them starting - When he does start playing fingers crossed he will be like a quality new signing |  | | |

Well Poku has started well bearing in mind you had him down for less than 10 games this season.
I think the club dont need to rush Obikwu back now with the strength of the squad. Especially only playing Kone or Burrell now instead of both of them starting - When he does start playing fingers crossed he will be like a quality new signing |

What an odd yardstick. You’ll barely find a winger that plays 90 mins in world football these days.
Saito played 90 mins 7 times in ‘24 and 7 times is ‘25.
Chair 6 times and 7 times.
Dembele 0 and 1.
Smyth 6 and 3.

And Smythe's ability to get to the byline, take on the defender and actually deliver a cross into telling areas both on the left and right side. He did as much on Saturday when he came on and played down the left.
Something Poku, Vale or Dembele do so rarely, if at all, when playing on the right. All of whom appear to be so wedded to their left-foot. Poku's reluctance to play a first-time ball into the penalty area with his right foot, which would have led to a scoring opportunity, being a case in point against Bolton.
Some of us have started to reference our forwards' limitations, but they aren't being helped by this inverted winger arrangement. I have no problems if the above were of the ilk of Femi Azeez, who doesn't always get it right, but he isn't afraid to use his weaker foot. To the point that he has created chances and scored goals with his right foot, which in turn makes him harder to mark, as he has the ability to genuinely go both ways.

TBF, think Smyth is immeasurably better on the left.
Pretty sure most of his best numbers in terms of goals and assists are when he's on that side.

Just looked at what I said and it was:-
"The lad won’t make more than 50 full appearances across his Contract."
If a 10 minute is a full appearance counts as "full appearance" then I'd say I'll have a big problem, certainly judging by his first couple of games. That's brilliant and I'd like nothing more than to be proved wrong on it.
In my head I did mean full 90's but take your point on the durations a lot of dynamic players these days.

Sanyaolu gets a well deserved league loan. Think this will turn out to be a top capture for Bristol City.
Seen the guy for the DS and in a couple of the pre season friendlies and is already very powerful and a big athletic player who has pace and talent already. From what i have seen so far, I predict this boy could do very well. Heard him interviewed also. Very focused.

I noticed that Poku chance for a fist time ball and said so at the time he should have used his right foot instead of taking an extra touch.
Smyth has done well switching to the left wing, but not one of the wide players used on the right have come close to matching him.
Stephan needs to get them practicing with their right foot - I suggest training games where they are only allowed to use their weaker foot (we did this at one of the amateur clubs I played for and it certainly helped). | | | |

That is what I was saying and hoping for with others over the last 2 seasons or so.
Maybe the previous group of players were not good enough for clubs in L2 or higher level, but the likes of Sanyaolu , Pearman and Bennie look like far better prospects, much like the standard QPR used to produce in the 80s and 90s. | | | |

Of course, we need to realise the Development Squad itself is significantly weakened with the likes of Adjetey-Brew, Putman, Smith, Pearman and Sanyaolu out on loan, plus Alemayehu now in the senior squad.

Would be a big loss but anything over £3m would be good business. If always fit and injury free he's a £10m + defender. | | | |
