we want stability but as a team, have we been consistent? entertaining? injuries aside, they happen every season we have had winning streaks followed by losing streaks, one game we look invincible, the next on mogadon? too jekyll and hyde. has the goalie situation helped? been resolved? do we have a core/spint to the team? a settled formation? assuming JS main remit was stay out of bottom 4/5, then job successfully done .

What he’s saying is exactly right, a good blend of youth & experience to lead the way is what is needed, particularly in the attritional championship.
No one at the club should be, surprised or threatened by this it is a statement of the footballing “bleeding obvious”…However it doesn’t necessarily work like that.
With Cook & probably Field moving on they need to replace that experience & unfortunately don’t think Hayden is going to do it.
Back in the day think about players like Venables, McLintock, Wilkins, Palmer, Furlong, Bircham, Gallen, Derry & Hill. Some of that nous is needed to run the dressing room & show leadership on the pitch.

We can’t simply sign young players. Even Brentford and Brighton sign players like Henderson and Milner! We need a balance in our team.

I've said this before but Sunderland were absolutely cratering under their own very young CEO with a policy of only ever signing and picking youth and aggressively trying to drive the average age of the squad down - think of the state they got themselves into with Beale etc.
Last year, relaxed a bit, accepted it was a mixed ecology, added Alan Browne to the mix etc... PROMOTED.
It's always a mix and a blend. Redknapp's way too far the other way. You should never be dogmatic and closed minded.

But Marti's departure was a complete mess.

There was nothing seamless about JS replacing Marti. We were being strongly linked to that bloke who bombed at Norwich last season. If anything we might have got lucky with JS.
To do that all again for a club in our position would be madness.
the one who bombed and allegedly didnt speak to that one ? that would be the one who was onn a podcast during the summer i think saying yes , he did indded speak to the club roughly around the burnley game , talked about the project and it had some good ideas but was to much bagage to go with the job , not sure whos podcast it was but im sure somebody can find it , wadnt we told julian was the only person we spoke to about the job though ?

I have a suspicion Stephane wants out and go back to French football. Can see both parties agreeing a get out in the Summer. Personally have never felt any sort of belief that he wants to stay, at least in the medium term and if he keeps being told by Norry to play sub standard younger players in the hope they can make it, then it does not bode well eg. the two the other night.

It wasn’t an impossible situation. It was a very awkward and unwelcome one, I’m sure. But Nourry has the authority to sack Williams so there was another option…
It remains an option available to him this summer, and he’d do far worse than to give it serious consideration.
