That’s an extremely disingenuous post, kensalriser. What I have explained in that post is widely known and understood regards football contracts and amortisation. I used Frey as an example because it is QPR and recent. You may dispute that and say it was a £500k fee paid as well as his whole remaining contracted salary cost off the books. It’s beyond wishful thinking but believe it if you want. But even if you believe that, it doesn’t mean anything else I’ve explained in that post is wrong around how things work. Are you even disputing any of that?

What’s disingenuous was you saying that I have constructed an argument based on an assertion (which you believe to be incorrect - you have not proven it is incorrect at all; that is also disingenuous).
The explanation of how it all works with amortisation and player contracts stands up whether you like/agree with the example I provided to help explain it.
You can believe what you want about the Frey deal. Replace “Frey” with “Player X” in my post, to have an example to help explain the context, and the explanation still stands up. That is the case. Is you have a player under contract and someone wants to sign him (for a fee or for free) on less salary than in his current contract, the player can say “no” to being sold, and so the club end up paying a long way towards the delta between salaries. It’s one of the downsides of offering long contracts. If you’d offered Celar a two year deal, the club’s obligation would have expired at the end of June and that’s it. To move him on on a free deal, even with two years left, will involve paying him a lump sum equal to most, if not all, his remaining deal minus what a new club will offer. And he still has to agree to it all.
You’ve freely admitted you don’t know how it works. I was offering an explanation to Stainrod. I simply through in an example relevant to QPR to explain it. The example doesn’t make the argument, as you assert. And I think you know that damn well.
Besides, we were agreeing before about the pros and cons of offering long contracts to amortise the transfer fee cost. This is just one of the pitfalls.
If you want to believe a club actually paid £500k as a transfer fee for Frey, AND offered him a salary equal (or greater) to what we paid him, feel free to do so. It’s very wishful thinking. But you’re welcome to your view. But, trust me, if they offered less than his current salary, fee or no fee, we will have had to throw Frey a lump sum to bridge most of that gap.

As mentioned definitely need another RB and a DCM to replace Field/Hayden. Even more so if Varane is sold.
Maybe another CB? Not sure what's going on with Morrison, I thought he looked pretty solid in his first few games (we never lost when he played!) but he seems out of favour now.

He had a good loan at Aberdeen. No problem with him as a squad player. I quite like him.

Wouldn't expect us to sign another CB unless we sell or release someone - Dunne and Ronnie as starters, Morrison and Clark-Salter as backups, Smith and Akidileni as development prospects feels like more than enough in terms of numbers. Whether they're good enough (or stay fit enough in JCS' case) is another question, of course.

There was a video on the socials (Instagram maybe?) of him participating in a finishing drill and looking pretty sharp. Obviously a long way off actually playing a game, but was positive to see.

Apart from Furlong, I cant think of another Dev player who has come through the ranks to be even close to first team standard (Defenders) in recent years.
Thats ideally what you want and the likes of Ziyad Larkeche and Esquerdinha dont look like they are going to make it.
Its a shame Larkeche's loan move came to such an abrupt end, it would have done him good and he would probably have been ok as a backup.

That squad looks weak to me in a number of areas
Another left back is needed whether ir nor Larkeche or Esquerdinha leave as they don't look good enough to me. A RB is also needed.
Another experienced BB is needed to replace Cook. If either Dunne or Edwards get injured or banned there will be problems. Mbengue can cover, but RB would be a problematic position.

Might not sound it but you're setting quite a high bar there.
Only 14 of our outfield players started 16 or more games last season, and I reckon around eight of them would have played the full 90 minutes 16+ times.
Poku did play 2,000+ minutes in each of the three seasons before he joined us. I'm hopeful he can get back to that, although it's not looking great for him at the moment.

Yeah, but to be fair only between numbers 1 and 50.
I think we have a good basis but we could get derailed by injuries. Mad Dog will start at RB, but I'm not convinced Adamson will be good enough. Even as a backup. Could get round that by moving Dunne or Edwards to RB and using the 3/4 backup CBs. Larkeche and Esquerdinha are OK covering Kemper but you wouldn't want them playing week in, week out.
Varane/Madsen/Morgan are a reasonable DCM choice but I'm not convinced about possible backups.
