Double-barrelled footballing surnames are commonplace these days, but I well remember how quaint they seemed in the 60’s when I first started discovering the game through the pages of Charles Buchan’s Football Monthly.
The first ‘posh’ monicker I recall belonged to the Nottingham Forest forward Ian Storey-Moore, who, bearing in mind that my imagination had by now come under the influence of The Beano too, must surely move in the same circles as Lord Snooty and his Pals when not plying his trade at the City Ground.
