I was very impressed by Pierce Charles who seems to have the confidence and ability to quickly pick players out with long passes. Hopefully this might mean we see a lot less of the endless faffing around in the box between the keeper and the back four - which so often leads to disastrous mistakes.
Of the other players we’ve not seen too much of, I think Poku could be important for us next season if he stays injury free.

Overall out play was very good. Varane very good when he came on. Poku lively and running at their left back and beating him most times. Lloyd did well for the 3rd and a very good header by Smyth. The bad. Morrison stopping and putting his hand up instead of getting back in to try and block. No Saito, Obikwu or Kolli.
Really hope those injuries aren't bad.

I enjoyed watching that & thought it was entertaining.
There is a gap between our first & second teams though. Quite a big one, once you go past our top 16.
What I did like about our subs was that they tried to keep going forward & played in the same manner as we had been. Poku looked lively & might have done enough to be included on our right with Burrell moving inside.
After watching this, I'm pleased that I've bought a ticket for the Millwall game.

One thing I would say about the injuries is that in pre season, you are going to come off even if minor. Lots of times last season, Kone looked like something had happened and he played on

He said they started with their best eleven and have spent £60 million in thr transfer window this season and £90 million last season - we got four new players for £650k and alttough a friendly we were comfortably better than them when both first teams were on. He said last season, they had a terrible start - no wins in first eleven games but improved masively and comfortably stayed up.
As to our players :
Varane consistently passing forwards and looked good,
Vale and Chair looked excellent with link up play. No holding onto the ball too long with Chair and he was the key man in the team.
Lloyd still a lot of bustle but created a chance for homself and excellent work for the Smith goal.
Charles distribution was excellent. Could be one of our top loans potentially
Poku was class.
The boy Kemper looked solid and a nice goal to boot.
But who is starting the "Ben Williams" strikes again thread.- so disappointing early on to lose what i would call our two best players. Neither looked great but especially Kone's.

- the Swedish kid is quicker and more mobile than I realised, on top of being able to pick a pass
- Poku, quality, again. Please wrap him in cling film and ice until we need him next
- Varane was given the time and space but also created it at times, thought he was excellent
- I'd be prepared to consider Larkeche as LB backup and use the money elsewhere...
...mainly up front, because Kone looked distraught when he went down. I thought it was a head injury at first but he was just so upset. The Madsen one is hopefully quite a bit less - hard to tell because he's so reserved.

Their league season starts weekend of Aug 22nd. So 2 weeks behind if you take into account our League Cup.

He said they are about a week behind us and said that our players were much quicker to the ball than them.

High praise but I totally agree with you. Up there with our most creative players in the squad, which for a goalkeeper is incredible to say, but it was true, yes.
