So according to Wiki (usual caveats about accuracy etc), Alfie made 89 senior first team appearances and scored the grand total of 8 goals up until the end of last season across all competitions. Admittedly a lot of those were probably substitute appearances (it doesn't specify how many) but the majority of those were either at National League or League 1 level. For us it was 31 appearances and 2 goals (again, I admit most would have been as sub).
It says Kolli has played 56 times (all at Championship level, so harder) and has scored 11 goals. A lot of those would also be as sub and some would have been on the wing. We also know that he has the best goal per minute average at the club.
I accept your point that Kolli might not make it as a Championship player or higher owing to the issues alluded to. But the point with him is that he has the POTENTIAL to make it. Given its some insanely low number that do (is it 1 in 100 academy products?), I just think you have to focus ruthlessly on the ones who MIGHT make it. I say this regretfully, not remotely gleefully with Alfie, but I just don't see him ever making it as a regular starter for us. One of his two goals for us I seem to remember he almost scored by accident! That is not to diss him, and we might still mutually benefit if we develop him sufficiently to sell to a L1 club. As you say, with his work rate and great attitude he could carve out a professional career. |

If he has turned down loans though, as the club have said to him are on the table, and he has turned it down due to his beliefs that he is better off learning on the job here. And he has only learnt half the job and also whichever way its marketed, turning.down an avenue of development that the club feel is best for him, and not taking it and then having limited minutes but still not being a team player, does demonstrate a level of arrogance that is appearing too early in his career.
Also, he is not the level of a Taraabt where you could say he is the team, so his inabilities / refusals to develop other aspects would clearly not help his cause here, as things are for the moment.
I think actually the club trying to sell him on and for higher numbers with a lot of add on fees could very feasibly happen, and would be the right option. We could still cash in, as the one thing with Kolli, is you could match up an incredible five minute show reel on youtube of all his touches, runs and supreme finishes.
Saying all this though, if he actually has completely been working on all aspects of his game in training, its hard to understand whether he has been injured or not, it would have been advisable for the.club to have had him out on the preseason training camp and tour, for himself to be a part of the squad integrating with the other players. Some of our injured or fringe squad players were out there. Why not Rayan.
Would love him myself to kick on with ourselves, but its hard to see how or even why we keep him now. Saying all that, like everyone i know diddly squat and am just coming up with my own conclusions. It does though need to improve in whichever way that will be.
We had two young players on loan here as young men, in Jack Clarke and Tim Iroegbunam that for me were underwhelming here, but playing week in week out was a part of their process to improve. Rayan needs a loan at a decent level. Basically because he needs to play week in week out.
Yes he has shown abilities at this level but consistency has been sketchy.
He needs to be tested in this aspect of his career the most.
If he was to put in the hard yards on a loan out, he could easily be a very decent championship player. The thing here is , he is low in the rankings and needs a loan that gives him as many 90 minute games as possible, which unless there are multiple injuries, he simply wont get this here.
Appreciate, I am an outsider looking in, without this, his career will end up woefully under the natural abilities he has. At the moment, I dont predict a great career going forwards for this boy. [Post edited 17 Aug 16:41]

when the pre season sqaud was announced i seem to remember the coment of hes staying behind for extra condtioning or something like that, no comment about recovery from an injury , unlike a certain player who allegedly missed the coach and missed out in that way.
kollis last two appearences for the club have been with the sorry to say it let overs in the dev squad who werent featuring for the first team in various friendlies

Eze and Chair both went on loans too at the age he is now and in league two. And they have done pretty well since.

I've been a staunch supporter of Rayan but I have to admit I'm bored with it all and a parting is needed (not in Kolli's hair obviously)
Certain individuals within the club have won and we need to let a prospect slide away.
I don't doubt Kolli has to shoulder some blame, especially on his personal fitness and lasting 90 minutes at this level, but the vast majority of fault lays with the club IMHO.
Poor man management, poor discipline enforcement, poor PR and if rumours are to be believed then really poor HR approach in the canteen!!!

My best guess is that his body struggles to get fit enough and every time he ups the intensity, he breaks down again.
It's a real shame as there is a goalscoring talent but he very rarely does 90. When he does get minutes, apart from his goals, he doesn't contribute in other ways except on an odd occasion like the FA cup tie in January. | | | |

I like Kolli and his potential but successive managers haven't picked him regularly and there has to be reasons behind it.
Forget being chewed out by Ben in the canteen or the higher ups disliking him...if he was regularly good enough and delivering on the pitch all of that would be forgotten about, this is a cynical sport after all and performances on the pitch dictate everything. The fact he's not...
I suspect he'll be gone for good this time and then we'll see whether we've lost something special, or got ourselves a deal for someone who will never quite get to the level expected. |  | | |

Don’t think one person has said hes not a good player me included the issue is hes a Ltd player due to fitness levels and being useful outside the box these are the main issues with him boy can finish better than most of the first team but not much use when ur blowing out ur arse after 30 mins of doing very little to help the team , can u imagine him chasing the ball down in a high press and lasting long doing so ? Before either going off injured or just not having the fitness level to do it week in week out `until the Americans change the rules and ur allowed to bring on special players at certain times he isn’t much use apart from the odd last20 as a sub if he fit that is .
Two coach’s have said in public he knows what he needs to do to get into the squad , has he done it ? | |
