Maybe he just wants time to recharge away from his family and friends.
If things have been troubling at home, its quite common, people disappear for a while ie Just want their own space to get their head together and remain incognito, whilst doing so. I did it myself for a time when my first relationship ended badly. I just needed time and space to get my head together and work out what to do next. Although I did tell those close to me that was what I was doing. Maybe he didn't tell them because his head was too jumbled. And seen as he reportedly has recently split from his wife, its a possibility.
Whatever it is, sincerely hope the man is ok and turns up soon untroubled and well. [Post edited 26 Aug 11:46]

The phone number for SAMARITANS is 116123.
You get through to a volunteer. They just listen and reflect on what you feeling etc.
I had a very low period over 15 years ago and rang Samaritans for a time and found it all incredibly helpful and stress relieving. And I wasn't in the worst of worst mind sets back then, but was severely stressed and not really able to deal with even the day to day aspects of living.
What I would say 2 out if 3 helpers would be very beneficial for me to offload. Occasionally , I didnt click well with the listener and you within your rights to phone soneone else there. Ie the calls could go to anywhere in the UK. So its all very anonymous too.
Some men get great help from ANDYS MAN CLUB - They meet all over the UK 7pm to 9pm and have a cuppa and a biscuit in a local community centre usually and its help in small groups. People can attend and not say anything at all or they may say what they going through and get decent supoort from others who can relate. Am aware they doing great work. [Post edited 26 Aug 16:59]

I agree with you about the Samaritan volunteers. I have called them in the past when it’s late at night and I’m stressed or anxious. Some of them just listen and don’t say anything at all which I find annoying but might be great for people who just want to offload. Personally I prefer someone more conversational and obviously supportive.
So it’s fine to ring again or try CALM who are very good and a more interactive style.
For obvious reasons I haven’t tried Andy’s Man club personally but have heard good things about it. |  | | |
