Forgive me if this has already been created, scrolled down the first page and that's as far as I went.
With a few QPR players out on decent loans this season, be good to keep tabs on them and any particular highs or lows. This probably harks back to my old Footy Manager days when I took in an inordinate interest in my loan system and player development. Even accused of running a puppy farm once.
Who do we have out on loan/about to go out?
Daniel Bennie - Dundee United (Scottish Prem)
Jaylan Pearman - Swindon (League Two)
Phil Sanyaolu - Bristol Rovers (League Two)
Joe Walsh - Wigan (League One)
Ziyad Larkeche - Barnsley (League One)
Kieran Morgan - Bradford City (League One - presumably.)
Harvey Boddy, Worthing, National League
Cory Adjetey-Brew, Worthing, National League
Jaiden Putman, Woking, National League
Tylon Smith, New England Revolution, MLS
Bennie is 5 games in without a goal or an assist but two yellows.
Sanyaulo an unused sub yesterday.
Pearman - last 15 mins of a 3-0 defeat. Was 1-0 when he came on.
Walsh - WIgan seem unconvinced, and have seemingly signed a replacement as has been discussed.

Form his stats he has missed a number of big chances. That’s not going to make you popular. He’s obviously getting into good positions but it’s the same problem he had with us he misses most of them. He’s young so he can definitely improve but that seems the main issue although I have only seem play once for them. It probably isn’t helped by their main striker missing a few sitters too. |  | | |

I think he has played every game so far and full 90 minutes as well.
Watched him a couple of times and he is very very comfortable at NL level and wouldn't be surprised if his loan is extended until Xmas. | |

On the face of it the club did well to get the various players out on loan, but a few weeks down the line one begins to wonder at what "cost".
Up the food chain at least, it seems normal for loans to have appearance requirements or penalties for not playing. The fairly low level of appearances raises questions as to whether our loaned out players do.
Of course cases and motivations for loans can differ, so in some cases (e.g. Larkeche) maybe it really is just a route to an exit door. But in others it seems clearly about getting them playing time. Bennie has done quite well so far on playing time, but Morgan and Pearman are two who surely stand out as being loaned out to get experience and so far Morgan at least probably would have got as many minutes if he'd stayed with us.
Whether our loans have appearance requirements could be an interesting question to ask at the Wednesday club meet.... | | | |

I would've kept Morgan and Big Phil here, even more so as they're not getting minutes elsewhere.
Morgan is an odd one as lots of fanfare about him getting his first team squad peg, he's shown he can do it, can cover RB if real emergency and I like him.
I always thought Bradford an odd location and it wouldn't be a place I would have chosen for a young lad to go for a few months.
The rest don't shock me and as said above I look at these as shifting some wages whilst waiting for the contract to run down.
Walsh might make it as he is young but at the moment he's miles away from being an EFL 1st choice GK
I'd again be asking questions about the people who saw fit to give these players decent Contract's with us in the first place. The hit rate is pretty woeful really isn't it. |  |

91% of players who are in an Academy don't make it to an EFL career. So don't be surprised at our failure rate. |  |

That said, I wouldn't rush to conclusions after just a couple of weeks for some of these players. Brew and Bennie have been with their teams longer than most and are both starters for their respective clubs.
Of the rest, Morgan and Big Phil have only been available for 3 and 5 matchday squads respectively. Both signed late in the window, and both are playing for teams that had been on unbeaten winning runs in the league. Incidentally, Bradford and Bristol Rovers both lost at the weekend, so they might get their chance soon enough. In competitive teams, they'll need to stake a claim straight away when that opportunity comes.

Be disappointing if Pearman continues down that path, I thought he had something.
I do think we are frequently guilty, as a club and as a fanbase, of over-hyping and overrating our players at that level. There's a line between supporting our kids and bigging them up to completely unrealistic levels. Winning trophies at that level means pretty much nothing.
Gab Sutton asked me a few weeks ago what I thought of Sanyaolu, who'd I'd seen in Austria and felt looked miles off it, then saw at Bromley and was more impressed. I said I'd compare him to Sinclair Armstrong - we all remember the kid at school who had a moustache at 12 and was the best footballer because he was the most physically developed footballer, but what happens when he starts playing with actual men? Straight away the replies - "he's way better than Armstrong" "no comparison with Armstrong". Whatever we think of Sincs, he's played semi-regular Championship football for QPR and Bristol City and got a move to Turkey. That's a very good outcome relative to almost everything else that's come through our academy in the last 20 years, and yet we're already saying Sanyaolu is going to be miles better than this, is already better than this etc. Maybe he is, I obviously hope he is, but we should probably stop doing this to ourselves - and to the kids. | | | |
