| Man City - GUILTY on 19:13 - Sep 29 by Mick_S | Re Birmingham, Clive. Yes, very smelly. Have you any idea how close they are to building the stadium that you can see from the Cotswolds? Jesus, it’s petty, but I really hope that goes tits up. |
They're talking about having it ready for the start of the 2030/31 season https://www.bcfc.com/pages/en/

Disgusting. The integrity of the PL is now under serious threat and the last 15/20 years if including Chelsea has been tainted and soiled. Billionaire owners, yet it still wasn't enough for them.

The population of the West Midlands is over 3 million. It's in the middle of the country and has significant road and rail links and even an international airport. A 60,000 seat stadium is not that outrageous. It's smaller than West Ham's ground. Sunderland might be a one-club city but it runs a 49,000 seat stadium with a population of 288k Newcastle has a 53k capacity stadium in a city of 328k.

I feel for the City fans that followed them all the way to the Second Division and sold it out v Macclesfield and things like that. They didn’t ask for it to become a Middle Eastern play thing and in my experience some of them felt v uncomfortable with it and some walked away entirely. But the people whose kids are suddenly charging round Tooting Common in City shirts can get to fck.

Amen to that. It's bizarre that FIFA soils its pants whenever there's any political posturing in a game and yet we allowed a sovereign state to buy one of our biggest clubs, along with a few more around the world. Where's the consistency?

I remember leauge cup game at our place a good few years . We lost 3.0 . Robbie Fiedler the difference that night . They brought thousands that night . This was , I’m sure, before the millions came pouring in . They had a representative from the blue moon podcast on 5 live this evening. He was gutted and feels it counts for nothing now. Sad state of affairs and an absolute disaster for the premier leauge but I’m not shedding any tears for them .

Football merely reflects society. Everything in this country has been sold off to the highest foreign bidder and football is one of them. Fck City and fck the PL. They deserve each other.

Send them into non league football please. Can they retrospectively strip them of the 2012 title and wipe out their late goals against us and award us a 2-1 win? Like to see that happen as it will finally stop all the footie channels showing the Aguero goal if it was retrospectively disallowed.

| Man City - GUILTY on 23:27 - Sep 29 with 1141 views | hubble | Extract from excellent article in The Telegraph: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/fo "Breaking the rules is for the small people. Constructing a whole alternative universe was what City did, in which sponsorship deals were topped up to whatever they needed to be for the purposes of conquering English football. “Base sums” supplemented by “tagged sums” to what the commission hearing the case politely described as the “disguised funding scheme”. The Manchester City revenue-creation military-industrial complex simply produced turnover at a rate with which no competing entity could live. By 2024 the club claimed a greater revenue than Real Madrid. To quote Leonardo DiCaprio’s realisation of that rapacious broker Jordan Belfort in The Wolf of Wall Street: “Was all this legal? Absolutely f------ not.” Breaking the rules? This is cheating on a scale unprecedented in the history of British football. Over just nine years the disguised funding scheme was found by the commission to have generated £949.9m in revenue, of which £830.7m was equity injected by the Abu Dhabi United Group (ADUG). In other words, it was fake revenue. But City did not stop there. Through the third-party company Fordham, buying image rights at inflated prices and taking other operating expenses off the City balance sheet, another £90.2m was added to the bottom line. About £920m of funny money was pumped into English football to fund one of the most successful dynasties in history." | |

| Man City - GUILTY on 17:07 - Sep 29 by MedwayR | I can’t help but wonder, considering that chelsea only got found out by their new owners coming clean and City by a hacker based in Germany, how many other clubs are doing such things. Without those two chance circumstances the PL would be none the wiser re chelsea & City. |
I wonder about this too. It will be interesting to see how many clubs really chase City over this, and how many back off. There may well be a number of Premier League clubs who won't want a broader investigation into Premier League clubs as a whole. There may well be a number of them who won't want to set a precedent for a big punishment, lest the knock comes on their door.

Step forward - Jamie Pollock. Its all your fault sir. What a load of old Pollocks !!

These shady workarounds wouldn’t be required if FFP/PSR hadn’t been brought in. Owners have always been allowed to spend but now it’s suddenly an evil in the game. The football authorities have brought in a system & rules that they can’t actually implement, what a mess.

| Man City - GUILTY on 07:32 - Sep 30 with 744 views | dmm | Jonathan Wilson, the well respected football journo, suggests more extreme punishment than many others, but the questions he asks seem reasonable to me. There must now be a very good argument for expulsion. How can City, at least under the current ownership, ever be trusted again? How can they go on playing even this season, pretending all is well, awaiting appeal and sanction, when they have been found guilty of charges of such magnitude? When the club has behaved like this, how can its continued existence in the Premier League be tolerated? And when they have cheated as they have been shown to do between 2009-10 and 2017-18, how can their name appear on the Premier League’s roll of honour? https://www.theguardian.com/fo | | | |

But this whole mess has highlighted that you can't allow owners to spend what they like. Owners are now Billionaires, not the local garage owner done good, who can spend hundreds of millions and think nothing of it. City dominated football because money was no object and if a rival matched them they would be able to spend more and more. Allowing all owners to spend whatever would make it worse. City have directly caused other teams to over stretch themselves, inflated player, manager and agent wages/fees across Europe and this has trickled down the English pyramid causing teams to fold. The only way to fix this whole mess is to bring in a wage cap like the US. It would reduce the quality but might just save the game from itself.

| Man City - GUILTY on 08:37 - Sep 30 with 583 views | slmrstid | From an accountancy professional point of view...I have to wonder where the club's auditors were in all of this. This isn't just cheating to get around League financial rules - this is fraud. This is the sort of thing that has taken business' down and seen people serving prison time for. Audits aren't guaranteed to find and prevent all fraud...but numbers and arrangements of this magnitude shouldn't have gone undetected for so long. Quite possibly some audit partners sweating a bit this morning. I'm sure HMRC are taking an interest in some of the staffing payment arrangements too, Mancini's disguised employment income etc. | | | |

I know someone who was involved in the FA case against Chelsea and there was a lot of examples of agents asking for offshore payments made to them and the likes of United or spurs -for example- saying we don't do that and then the player suddenly signing for Chelsea with payments deposited in the Cayman isles etc. Scandalously low punishment for Chelsea but in this one there is a good chance of criminal charges for false accounting so I don't think it can be swept under the carpet. Hazard for example was in Manchester at lunchtime and signed for Chelsea later that day.
