| Rangers shirt to a sex pistols gig on 15:59 - Sep 29 with 1608 views | DWQPR | Bought a shirt online at the club shop which was black and had SUPER F*****G HOOPS In pink and yellow replicating Glen Matlocks flags, with the QPR badge in one of the O’s in Hoops. Will be wearing it to the Hammersmith Apollo in December when I go and see them with my son. Looks like you can still buy them https://shop.qpr.co.uk/product [Post edited 29 Sep 16:01]

| Rangers shirt to a sex pistols gig on 01:43 - Oct 1 with 542 views | charmr | I know it’s only rock and roll but I like it, like it, yes I do. 2 hr drive down to Washington DC, 40 miles. The trir-state area, Maryland, DC and Virginia traffic legendary and I left at 3 o’clock. Parked, bite to eat, joined the que to join Eddie and his brother, US citizens with parents from Peru. Worked with Eddie coaching then bumped into him at a Peter hook gig. Listening to them they were explaining that in South and Central America Rock music is huge. Depeche Mode who they also love recently played 3 nights in Mexico City and it sold out. Eddies brother also has a back tattoo dedicated to his team in Lima. Bonkers. Entered and headed stage left, a place that is right at the front but gets cut off when the place gets full.10 yds from the band. As advised blue and white 70,s style shirt with the current badge on it. It’s part of the pajama set available in the club shop. I saw a video of Pete Docherty swanning around Paris in that top and Francis explained what it was and he actually sold it to him. Support band were called Bad Nerves. They looked the part, acted the part (clash poses) and put out a mighty and raucous guitar roar. Excellent, so cool to see 20 something’s embracing rock and roll with guitars. Get the songwriting sorted out and they could make a dent. So amp covers unfurled and Jones has a Ch3/$ea stencil on his, old badge. Mr Matlock, well you know. So one song in he spots the shirt, nothing to do with me gesturing like a mad man at him. A broad smile appears on his handsome face. He gestures for me to turn round. My thinking was he was seeing if it had the number 10 on the back. He seemed quizzical of a 70,s style shirt with the new badge. All while playing the base effortlessly I might add. The band held their own. Frank Carter decked in a stone island top also held his own, comfortable in his own skin and on stage. He doesn’t have the Lydon snarl and intination but who knows if Lydon still does. He got a circle thing going with him in the middle and then, which I thought was brilliant got a girls only mosh pit to happen. Punk was all about human kindness and thoughtfulness didn’t you know. Standouts were Bodies, No feelings EMI and Anarchy. And as much as I don’t care for sing alongs hearing the roof lifted off the place by the audience solo of Anarchy was amazing. I have never been to a gig and seen so many people smiling during a whole show. Only gripe was Steve Jones guitar could have been louder and got lost in the mix a bit. Plenty of younger people around, some with their dads which was great to see. Teenage girl next to me with her dad had a fcuk you you fcuking fcuk t shirt on. Always liked that phrase. Be proud Dad.Thing was to hear these songs played live and having heard them so many times in my life and that they were recorded so long ago truly was magical. A very surreal evening. Worth remembering how much this band put a massive dent in music and popular culture. Band exit pretty much in front of me and someone from behind the scenes comes out and hands me a set list. Then I realized it was Glens guitar guy. Wow. Looked over and he’s standing to the side of the stage. Acknowledged him and said thank you. Next minute he walks over and shakes my hand. Blurted out where I was brought up and had been watching Rangers for 50 odd years. Good man the reply. My accent has never been stronger. Meanwhile on exiting the venue Eddie and his brother are bewildered and fellow punky upstarts are asking to take pictures of my gift. That simple gesture and acknowledgement is why we support the finest football team the world has ever seen. The set list is going in a frame, the magic carpet ride home only took an hour. Cheers Glen. [Post edited 1 Oct 3:06]
