I am no doubt there will be people who harp on about his first season with us - But I for one think this is another solid contract extension and clearly very key in Stephans plans

He is very good and very honest in this interview. Love that he thinks the team is ambitious. Speaks very well and you can see him being a head coach or manager one day. There's something very mature about how he sees the game.
A player that I think will perform for us in most games he plays and deserves his extension due to his undoubted qualities but also because he chose not to focus on an appalling first season and put in at our level, an outstanding performance this time around.
Many would have said to themselves - "maybe, I am not up to this" - and their poor form would have continued.
Shows a strength of character to improve so amazingly, as the gold fish bowl of love/hate can affect many players more than the talents they know they possess.
I hope he stays for the entire season, as for our own progression, his presence will be key. Another great season and we will almost definitely sell and for a decent figure also.

Great news, and a good interview. He's a more introverted character than your average footballer but clearly has many footballing and personal attributes which make him stand out, so well done to the club for picking him up and renewing him. Was thinking, during the World Cup final, that he'd fit in quite well in Spanish football, in that deep-lying Busquets/Rodri role.

Very good news, but i still expect few more goals from him. He scored 14 goals season before joining us, so there are goals in him. Of course different league and maybe a little bit different role,but it would nice to see him score something like 7-8 goals a season. Now 3 in both season

I believe he should be our go-to dead ball man in almost every offensive situation, pens, corners and FKs. He was early on last season, and the previous one, but especially since Chair returned, he's been splitting the opportunities. That's a waste of his talent in my book.

I thought he was already on a long contract with at least 2 years left so surprised we have done this now. Maybe we have inserted a release clause of say £15M which will stop silly offers being made.
It was a disastrous first season good second season really hope it's an excellent season coming up. Needs a few more goals to add to his game.

Great news as he really is starting to look the player we hoped we'd signed. Good to seem starting to get annoyed on the pitch when others are not giving him the ball as well.

I hear you and agree that if he has another successful season QPR should be asking for £20m up front as a minimum. That surely must be the reason for the extension as he had reportedly joined on a long term deal.
West Ham Wolves, Bristol City and snd previously Brentford all seek and sell for £20m+, so why shouldn’t QPR?
I know the first two clubs have players with Premiership experience and that is why they are selling for £30-60m.
