Gomorrah - The Origins.
Watched the first episode and must say I'm a little disappointed that they didn't carry on the sub-titles version rather than the cheesy American dubbed voices.
Other than that, Iiking what I see so far for one of my top 5 favourite series over the years. |
Saw that last night. It was awful and not just because of the incongruous dubbing - the story was humdrum and the styling and colouration was all a bit cartoonish.
I'm going to start watching the original series, which I've never seen. Hope it's better. |  |

Watched the first 10mins of the dubbed version and gave up. Managed to find the original Italian language subtitled version on the firestick and its gone from 4/10 to 7/10, amazing difference. [Post edited 28 Aug 8:14]

Mrs S has been watching Professor T on ITVx. Apparently it’s a remake of a Belgian show, but it’s like they fed Inspector Morse, Ludwig and Doc Martin into AI, and asked it to make something similar but cheaper. Ben Miller and Francis de la Tour (!) are entertaining, but the rest of the cast are more wooden than HMS Victory and seem to have given about 20 minutes with the script before filming. |  | | |

Has anyone else watched Alley Cats yet? (Netflix).
I watched a couple of episodes last night and it did make me roar with laughter on occasion, but that’s because I love unhinged sweary rants and people calling each other cnts (this is a highly evolved SOH we’re talking about here) but otherwise, I get the feeling that that’s all it is.
He admitted he copied Spinal Tap with The Office and he’s definitely ripping off Derek and Clive (of which he is a massive fan) with this. His character even mimics Peter Cook (was he Derek or Clive?) in some bits.
I might give D&C a blast in the car tomorrow. Lobsteribimus Bubbakissimus. [Post edited 30 Aug 9:06]

D&C can be a bit hit and miss, but the good bits are so good.
Remember that they were doing this when the Goodies was on the TV, it must have been revolutionary at the time, so much earlier than other "alternative" comedians |  | | |

New Amsterdam: US medical drama based on Eric Manheimer's memoirs, Twelve Patients: Life and Death at Bellevue Hospital where he was medical director |
Loved the Newsroom, I worked for an American news TV channel for a few years and its pretty accurate to be fair, if you liked that try the SNL version. I think it was called Studio 60, where Chandler Bing is meant to be Lorne Michaels

Ah, now I gave up on Pluribus after four or five episodes. Probably would have been sooner if she wasn’t in it.
Maybe it would have been better as a film, but episode after episode of her encountering the same problem got so boring that I gave up on waiting for the “big event” that turned it all around.

Anyone watching Spider-Noir on Prime with Nicholas Cage as an aging Spiderman set in 1930s New York. There's a choice of black and white or an old fashioned colour edition. Nicholas Cage is brilliant as a boozing loner trying to retire and stay out of the lime light. The action scenes are really well done. In fact all the performances are first class. | | | |
