As it is 50 years since my first visit to Loftus Road and we beat Birmingham 5-2 on that occasion, I am trying to see if my 'presence' can bring something like a similar result.

Anything that end in us scoring more than them.

Hope to have that warm glow tonight.

Could they please for the love of god not play Hi Ho Silver Lining in an empty stadium after that. Coming from the right place but doesn't help.

Can’t take any more of the fake crowd noise, like being held underwater for 90 minutes.

I'll give it 10 games then there'll be no excuses about 'bedding players in'

Our 10th game being at home to Cardiff so I'd imagine that on current form Smithies might want to bring an overcoat with him to keep warm.

Defensively we look a lot better than have done previously and had another clean sheet. Barbet, Kakay and Dickie all did well. Niko did pretty good when he came on and was great deal more mobile. Dieng looks to be a really, really good keeper and way better than his competitors for the shirt. We look so much more solid with him there. Some really good blocks from Barbet who was my MOTM overall.

Midfield was pretty neutral. Cameron did a lot of good things, but Chair only really started to grow into in the second half. Created chances, but really needs to do better with what comes his way, snatched shots a few times. Albert had to do a lot of work and was being pulled more into centre where he was less effective. Ball significantly improved things when he came on and seemed to improve the tempo and bite.

Up front, Dykes and Bonne tried, but they were often feeding off scraps. Dykes not quite 100% and did show a little as second half progressed. Bonne put himself out there and I think we looked better when Dykes came off. Bright got nothing from the officials given how much shirt pulling and fouling him throughout. Created lots and really grew into the game. Willock coming on we seemed to quicken things a little more on the left, but was still a little bit lightweight when challenging/challenged for the ball.

Officials seemed way too lenient to both sides. Certainly quite a few cautions seemed due, especially for the tag teaming of Bright.

Never knowingly understood

That was rubbish. What little attacking zeal we showed in the Bournemouth game is gone.

I think Warbs is more concerned about how we play then actually winning.

Agree, the ref rightly booked Dixkie first half, but I counted three occasions with fouls in similar areas and similarly deliberate did not result in cautions. How Sunjic got out of the game without a yellow should have the ref marked down to a 5 regardless of the rest of his decisons. Minimum 4 deliberate hacks and no yellow. Maybe the ref couldn't see past his massive gut. Embarrassing.

Bare bones.

I honestly can't see where the goals to keep us up are coming from.
If you can't score even one goal in two home games against those two you've got problems.

More worrying is we only had one shot on target over the course of both games. 3 hours of football!

We don’t look like we know how to create a chance, never mind take one. We get near the final third and we haven’t got a clue. Ironically for all of warburton’s insistence on trying to pass the ball into the net (we’re not good enough to do that) the few chances we are getting are coming from corners and crosses into the box which we just don’t do enough of.

Oh well two home games with no goals scored and barely a shot on target. All the exciting play when we had fans in the ground seems to have gone.

My mood is not helped by the other hoops 5 points clear at the top and have only conceded once this season.

On the plus side it's unlikely we'll concede 70+ goals this season. OTOH it seems impossible we'll score that many either.

Yes, we lost a lot of goals with the players who've left, but the ones who remain look half as effective as they did last year, I'm thinking mainly of BOS and Chair. Who knows why, unfamiliarity with new team-mates? Additional pressure to perform? Possibly, but I really think the lack of fans getting behind them can't be discounted. Young players need that, and forwards need it more than defenders. So much depends on them trying to push themselves out of their comfort zone, reacting not thinking, attempting the impossible. They both look flat to me, waiting to see what'll happen rather than trying to make it so.

Positives: Hamalainen looked solid enough when he came on. Would have no problem with him as first choice LB on that showing. Dieng is confirmed as our number one keeper, no question. We got a point which I would have taken at half time!

Not for me no.

Possibly Sunjic, but two fouls isn't 'persistent' and although one was borderline reckless I suppose, not enough to get excited about for me.

We all see the game differently though don't we?

I just think 2 points are worth making.(1) Even if we were to all agree that replacing Cameron with Ball and Wallace with Niko improves us in terms of mobility at least, these two changes make us a very young and inexperienced team. Only Barbet ( who seemed decent today) and Adomah (who is only in the door 5 minutes) have a vast amount of championship experience. Chair and BOS are getting there in terms of numbers, but the rest are infants at this level
(2 They have to be still getting to know each other. Of the back 5, 4 are different to last season. Further forward, Dykes,Bonne, Adomah, Carroll, Willock and Thomas (when fit) are all new faces. Throw in a long term injury to Amos just when he was starting to look the part and I think patience on our part is needed.
I believe we will improve as we start to gel with each other and the new players get used to the demands of the Championship. If Liverpool etc made wholesale changes for two consecutive season, nobody would expect them to click straight away, so we just need to give them time. If Warburton had gone with the same formation/personnel as the PNE game, I'd have been concerned, but he went for it today, which is fair enough. That it didn't work out is down to the above reasons imo

Agree with all that. Its also about confidence to try things as well. For some reason we did v Bournemouth but took the safety first option too many times on Weds and again today.

No idea what the answer is but as you say we have to be patient and it IS a 46 game season so plenty of time.

I think the Bournemouth game showed that the team can play with some urgency. I think our lacklustre performance today wasn't down to the team lacking Championship experience or having not gelled yet. My gut feeling is that Warbs trying to get us to win a certain way at all costs. It will be interesting to see how the next few games pan out.

He must have read my post

To be fair he’s said ‘we are trying to be too precise and walk the ball into the net’ so maybe the penny’s dropped. Though he did ruin it at the end when he said ‘we created lots of chances today, the time to be worried is when we’re not creating chances’

Spot on with the ref, not why we didn't win but books Dickie then let's the same foul by them go, I think it was BOS chopped thigh high, nothing and at least one other.
Standard inconsistent fare really.

It's being so happy that keeps me going.

Thought he should have been booked for the foul on Kakay (I think) as he was running into a dangerous crossing position. Apart from the fact that Dickie used his arms /hands to pull a player back and Sunjic slid in and took out Kakay, for me if one is a booking, so is the other one.
