LTC was not good enough for us, we will have to wait and see how he 'hacks it' for Ipswich. As for Dozzell, I liked him a lot in the friendlies, far to early to have a valued opinion of him yet but he plays far more advanced than LTC and plays forward balls much more often. A few years younger than LTC so, as you say he has time on his side, and, who knows, but I expect him to be a lot cheaper in wages. |
The thing is I think MW sees Dozzell as the same type of player as LTC and let's remember MW showed no signs of dropping LTC last year prior to his injury despite LTC being largely ineffective, which some posters (you and me) recognised.
To a certain extent MW got lucky with LTC's injury.
I also agree that Dozzell does seem to be more progressive on the limited shows so far but I agree, it is too early to say whether he will become LTC (2.0) or a better player. I am hoping, the latter. |  | | |

£20 million would be a great return after one season and definitely what we're supposed to be doing as a club. Prem clubs must be looking at him esp as there's a lack of top quality centre backs at the moment. He's ridiculously good. The key is can they overlook his lack of pace? Maguire's not quick but sold for £80 so which suggests it shouldn't be a reason for being ruled out.
the extremes could go 2 ways...
1) we keep him and then one bad tackle or awkward knee plant and he's out for the season
or
2) we cash in and then just miss out on promotion, and he would've made the difference.

As others have said it can be difficult to judge a new player impact when there are other subs being made that appear to weaken the first 11.
I see similar steps being taken with Dozzell by performance and recovery staff as with Willock last season.
Once Dozzell provides sustained figures relating to his peak loading he will become a regular starter alongside SJ imo. |  | | |

I think Dunne and Masterson are our cheap back ups, however if he were to go for good money then whos the next Rob Dickie out there? a £2/3m purchase for a League 1/Scot Prem/PL Under 23 could be more of a possibility once the money is in the bank?
However he is an immaculate player, you dont see many CB bringing the ball out as often and with as much ease as he does. I really do feel he is a class act and one we should gamble and hold onto for the season. But then i dont know whos on offer as a suitable/better? replacement.
Like you all have said its not our gamble, but the building blocks have been put in place this year and i doubt they will dismantle them, however he is that good i can see why there is interest, but no one should get him on the cheap. |  | | |
