No mention that the use of VPNs to use QPR+ is not permitted. Presumably the club want the fans to get a VPN and go to Belgium whenever they can't get to a Saturday 3pm kick off.

Interesting...

Can we go out yet?

Sold out against Rotherham, so there's a market out there.

Personally I prefer the Netherlands.

I swear every podcast I listen to and every Youtube video I watch has an advert for Nord VPN in it somewhere. No way has anyone anywhere ever paid full price for that product, they just can't of done

Club get the tenner regardless so as long as you're using it to pay for and access their QPR+ product I doubt (I know for a fact) they don't care.

If you need a VPN it’s as good as any out there and way better than most.

Scooters, Tunes, Trainers and QPR.

So I have this NORD VPN already and use it when I can't get to a game to watch the boys

Pay my £10 to QPR +

So will QPR now be able to monitor everyone who uses NORD VPN to access and pay for their match subscription service and block them accordingly thus losing out on their £10 each match

If they do, I will cancel my NORD VPN and go elsewhere.

Have the powers that be thought this one through.

Due diligence and all that !!!!

Why would it be in QPR’s interest to do that?

It wouldn't be in NORDs interest either. VPN companies sharing their subscriber data is a big no-no since VPNs are all about anonymity.

Yep I enjoy my Saturday afternoons in Belgium when I can't get to games.

Been using Opera for it so far.

Glad to hear the club could care less about VPNers giving them a tenner

Signed up for this VPN a couple of months ago for two years. It included a 95% cash back offer (and they regularly offer this for new signups) so effectively it cost next to nothing. Very decent so far and easy to use.

I live overseas and used to pay a fair wedge for Astrill VPN, mostly so my kids could watch iplayer (rather than godforsaken nonsense on youtube), supposedly it is one of few vpns that can get around whatever measures BBC use to block them. It was pretty flakey tho, so I eventually got on the Nord bandwagon, and have to say its very good, the obfuscated servers work a treat for iplayer, and it integrates very easily into my Nvidia Shield set up.

Edit: yeah quite amusing that the club are clearly giving a nod and a wink re QPR+

How in God’s name have you deduced that from one single solitary tweet by the club which was actively promoting the use of a VPN?

They have changed their tune then. A few years ago when I'd complained the QPR+ stream wasn't working, they emailed me back claiming the problem was generated from my use of a VPN ( which I used all the time for better security anyway), which wasn't permitted when using QPR+.

Exactly, and why would a company, whose product is designed primarily for data protection, suddenly decide to ignore all data protection laws and start giving up user information ?

They've known for years that people both can and do use VPNs to access their service. All sides have followed the rules: the club is following the party line, the VPN isn't advertising the use of their system to by-pass any broadcasting restrictions and the fans are paying for the match. Our away support isn't dropping as a result of bods doing this and, if anything, our home support is bloody mental considering our position, so it doesn't seem to be affecting anything there either.

No harm, no foul - as things stand.

I've got Nord VPN, I've done lots of research on it and they are probably the 2nd best VPN on the market behind ExpressVPN. I only went Nord because they are cheaper.

If anyone is going to sign up for this deal I fully recommend you get the 'Plus' plan. This includes the Nord Password Manager which for me has been amazing. I never need to remember a password, I also have my card and personal details saved so if I buy something on a website I usually just click one button and it fills all the information for me. The password manager also helps you generate very secure passwords which you then don't need to remember because it saves them for you.

Honestly, if you don't bother with the VPN just get the password manager. Worth every penny.

Yes generally, but they didn't need to mention VPN at all in that instance, I hadn't. Their stream wasn't working whether VPN was on or not.

Yeah but no but yeah but, I did have one curious incident 3 or 4 years ago where I'd actually already paid, and got a message back to the effect that they knew I was using a vpn so my access was denied.

I wasn't too impressed about that intervention at that point but skulked off into the shadows and watched it on Iraqigoals or somewhere, with only a mild dose of computer-thrush for my troubles (Disco could do that bit more justice). Never happened since.

I wonder if Strategic Lead Nourry has got people to do some legal digging and identified this as a way to support a revenue stream? i.e. actually facilitating it rather than turning a blind eye on whatever level. Quite clever if that's the case and could genuinely boost finances to a small but steady extent.

Of course if it goes wrong we'll all be back to listening to the commentary, yelling "WHERE IS THE FCUKING BALL?" at whatever regional stringer is sitting beside Bradley Allen.

Either way has to be one of the highest profile sponsors we've had in a long while.

I have about 12 pages of passwords, well hidden away. But, it makes me nervous and I have been tempted to opt for a password manager. I have Nord VPN, so it could be theirs.
What holds me back is a) what do I have to do to set the password manager up and b) how reliable is it? In other words, could I suddenly find that I was unable to access something important and not be able to e.g. pay a bill?
I am old.

I fully appreciate what I'm about to ask will seem dumb and deserved of pelters.

However, if someone wanted to avail themselves of the offer, is the VPN device specific or, account specific and thus, I could use it on different devices, 'probably' not at the same time of course?

And while I'm at it: Mrs PH and I recently took delivery of one of these fancy-TV things; the width of a fag paper, not a cathode-ray tube to be seen, and capable, it seems, of all sorts of wizardry, all of which are beyond us. Thus, if we got a VPN, I understand we need to get a firestick after that, what would we need to do to get TV from all over the place?

To be honest: We'll likely hoik some French teenager off the street to sort, but frankly, the thing is on the wall and the cat looks more likely to work the fcuker, so anyone able to help with some insights will be greatly appreciated.

In advance: many thanks.
