| Ipswich Reflection 17:53 - Nov 1 with 17136 views | bluenwhite10 | A fair result and list to a side with an embarrassment of talent. Ipswich going into the match are a team in a false position and it was going to click for them at some stage and unfortunately for us it was today.. Squirting hopelessly beaten on the wing for the 1st goal. In fairness we responded well attacking Ipswich right quite a bit as Chair was getting lots of success against Furlong and good following up by Butr | | | | |
| Ipswich Reflection on 20:43 - Nov 1 with 2456 views | NW5Hoop | Koné is starting to worry me. When he joined – yeah, no preseason, he'll get the weight off and get fast, and in the meantime he seems to be scoring anyway. But it's November and he looks, if anything, even less fit. His lack of pace today was embarrassing at times. And he doesn't look like scoring at all at the moment. | | | |
| Ipswich Reflection on 20:51 - Nov 1 with 2397 views | Dorse | Not shitting the bed yet but I am a bit frustrated with the latest couple of games. In no particular order: * Kone needs to be the point man, not sitting in the 'ten' slot. * Dropping RND in favour of Esquerdinha makes no sense when facing that sort of team * Nardi is playing worse than Lumley ever did * Dunne seems well off the pace and has been all season. No idea why. * Cook doesn't feel like the answer to any questions we're currently asking. * How come our wingers don't play well unless they come on in the second half? * Madsen is consistent but who the fck do we partner him with? * Chair is looking better each game. * Love Burrell's attitude and effort. All of this needs to be seen in the wider context of our previous seasons' starts. This year has felt so much better in total. I suppose that's why the Derby and Ipswich performances grate so much. | |

| Ipswich Reflection on 19:52 - Nov 1 by HammersmithR | Today was definitely on the manager. Am beginning to get sick and tired of 4, 5, 6 changes every game. Play your best team and take each game as it comes! The constant changing of the back 4 and the attacking players in hindering the side. Keep the shirt until you play badly and someone else has a go. The Brazilian lad was utter dreadful and absolutely powder puff. He is not ready for the Championship. Needs a loan spell to toughen up. Chair back to his greedy self at times today especially in the 2nd half when he should have passed. We play the same tactics in every game. We need a different style at home. We need to control the ball. We are so open at times and getting massively over run in midfield. So Wednesday will be another 5 changes and then the same on Saturday. This side needs to gel. Look at Arsenal. Same back 5 most weeks. Ours is a fricking lottery each game. That’s not how you build a successful side. |
Which is all down to the manager and coaching staff, all of whom are starting to seriously worry me. Bould seems to have our defence going backwards, - where's his accountability for those two shocking free kicks? - and that's at least three games this season already where Stephane has really f*cked up his selection/tactics/subs (or all three) and cost us points. We've got a dodgy keeper, comatose central defence, leaky midfield engine, regressing CF, and today he thought it would be a great idea to play with no width till it was too late. Does he have some kind of learning disability? I've seen better standards on Kitchen Nightmares! [Post edited 1 Nov 20:53]

Are you intimating that he’s got less fit since being with us? That our fitness team may not be much cop? Knock me down with a feather!

He's got to be carrying something, he's a yard slower than when he joined

He did mention in his interview with Charlie Austin that he realised after a few Championship games and training that he needed to get fitter. He does look literally heavy and lacking in pace at times, so it doesn't seem to have happened. Interesting question to currently ask is who's been the better signing, Kone or Burrell? Quite possibly. But why is he playing then? That would also be pretty poor from that group, no?

| Ipswich Reflection on 18:57 - Nov 1 by StreathamRanger | Look at the positioning of the wall for the second. Maybe it's just the camera angle but Kone is not even blocking off a path towards the goal. Lining up the wall is the keepers job so they've either moved after he's placed them or he's placed them wrong. |
I can only assume that's there to help stop the left footed inswinger, but I'm not sure in what world it would even do that | | | | Login to get fewer ads

| Ipswich Reflection on 18:37 - Nov 1 by StreathamRanger | Maybe I'm just annoyed but from this clip it looks a bit like Koki ducked away from the ball a bit. Also makes no sense to have your smallest player in the middle of the wall. Not sure who's responsible for that? Nardi? Koki, Stephane? Edit. Watching the first one, how on earth does Nardi let that one in when he's positioned on that side of the goal? Shambles [Post edited 1 Nov 18:54]

That second free kick is an embarrassment on every level . Shameful
| Ipswich Reflection on 21:55 - Nov 1 with 2086 views | VancouverHoop | IIRC Koné did have fallow periods among the torrid ones at Wycombe. He's come a long way in short time, maybe that has something to do with it. | | | |

And that’s on the manager as well. Who puts the smallest players in the side in the wall? Do we have a set piece coach or work on corners in training? We just hit it in the box and hope for the best. We have no set routines for corners.
| Ipswich Reflection on 22:04 - Nov 1 with 2041 views | nadera78 | No-one played well today, no-one. We made an ordinary Ipswich look good, and some of the goals were terrible to concede. Funny that no-one has mentioned Madsen yet. He didn't once get close to their 32, Nunez, who kept dropping off his shoulder and found acres of space. On a few occasions we had the ludicrous situation where Cook moved forward to mark him and ended up playing 10 yards in front of Morrison - which is appalling positioning for your CBs to end up in. Anyway, everyone involved today, from players to coaches, has some thinking to do before the next game. | | | |

I believe we have a set piece coach, yes. But he doesn’t report to Stephan.

We’ve been through this before on here, Ted. Clive posted the link to the JD the club issued when advertising the role earlier this year. I’m not making it up. The set piece coach reports to the CEO. As does the Head of Methodology, the Head of Player Development, the Head of Sporting Operation, and the Head of Recruitment. Stephan is amongst that group reporting to the CEO. I’ve been told that you/we need to think of it as “Stephan is their client”, “they need to work collaboratively and keep him happy”, and “by reporting to the CEO he can ensure they’re doing their job right”. Make of that what you will.

| Ipswich Reflection on 18:23 - Nov 1 by MrSheen | Madsen’s push. Having watched Ipswich shoving our players off the ball unpunished all of the first half he expected to get away with it. |
It was Hayden. If you don’t know, don’t speculate. Absolute crap from him to do that. No idea how he gets in the team ahead of Varane anyway.

| Ipswich Reflection on 18:44 - Nov 1 by JamesB1979 | Let’s see where we are come December. But when I compare this squad to the one Ainsworth had, beginning to wonder whether I was a bit harsh on Gareth. |
Just as the kick was taken, he makes two small jumps to his right, which makes it impossible for him to get over to the ball. Keeper error, defo.
| Ipswich Reflection on 08:36 - Nov 2 with 1359 views | DaBurgh | Just read through this and no one has mentioned Cook's lack of movement for the first goal. Yes our Brazilian got toasted, but when the ball was crossed it went right over Cook's head, there was no attempt to jump and head the ball out. He just watched it sail over his head. That's how I saw it any way. | |

I agree with all of this. I do understand that we now have 2 very good players available following injuries, and we need to try and fit them back in, it’s a nice problem to have, but it is a problem. I think the middle of the park is an issue - constantly switching out Madsen’s partner - Varane is just not playing well, so Hayden does seem like the right choice, but he’s in, he’s out - no consistency. Cook shouldn’t be starting IMO, and Esquerdinha - needs a L1 loan - not a start, we missed RND today.
| Ipswich Reflection on 09:18 - Nov 2 with 1248 views | dmm | I keep reading that Esquerdinho should be sent out on a L1 loan. But, what L1 club would take him right now? None, I suspect. I agree he shouldn't have started yesterday and that he's some way short of the required level but he may well have to stay at QPR, work hard and respond to coaching. I'm still hopeful the lad can come good. | | | |

Respectfully, there's no league one team that will be remotely interested in paying a loan fee for Esquerdinha. Beaten so easily by a trick that's as old as the hills: drop shoulder & step-over all in a straight line and then showed no desire whatsover to try to make a recovery tackle. He merely ambled alongside the Ipswich player, as his escort, deep into our penalty area before the clipped cross was delivered. Ipswich player being of the same age: 19, and able to use both feet well. NB: Vale, Dembele, Poku (it would appear too). [Post edited 2 Nov 10:16]
