I like Field a lot but Edwards brings arguably better quality defensive/midfield cover and I presume getting his wages off the books for a few months will help.
Hayden's performance at the weekend might have been the clincher for Field.

Loan with a likely permanent move at the end of the season.
Guessing if its £2million for 27/28 year old decent but standard championship midfielder, think that would be the reason for the deal.
I dont want Field to leave but if the above is correct or a similar sell on fee, then perhaps it makes sense.
For me, am sad to see him go and would think we have also seen the last of Sam Field in a Rangers shirt. |  |

Plus, Field covers for RND at left back. Esquerdinha performed reasonably at Oxford, but QPR have a lot of much tougher and testing fixtures than that coming up. These include Middlesbrough, Sheff Utd, Derby Birmingham and Millwall. RND will definitely not play against Sheffield United. | | | |
