Says we shouldn't focus on short term-ism. Either pushing for promotion or worrying about bad results, keep working with the plan of signing young players, accepts we will get inconsistent results by adopting that plan.

Asks for the fans to build a positive environment around the players to help them succeed. 'Im not saying it's the fans fault'

I think the big message I would give the club at the moment is - take the fans with you.
It’s no use really saying “this is what we’re doing and you can choose what sort of fan you want to be.”
Involve us, inform us, make us part of it, and give us something to dream about. Ten more years in the Championship with the aim of creating something Crystal Palace can buy is no kind of pitch.

Some of your favourite fans may not (always) be available….

Call me a bluff old traditionalist but I always thought that other teams took note of your players when you are playing well.... getting a few results and generally playing a decent standard of football

Not when we are getting our @rses handing to us with 7-1 5-0 4-0 etc. defeats

I think we all understand this "project" or whatever you going to call it, will take time... if it started with the man child. We are what barely 2 years into it... but we are shocking.

We can't keep any players fit, we have an army of backroom staff that appear to be clueless about how to keep these prospects playing... and our ambition on loaning out these prospects is the the hinterland of footballing outposts

I can't see Real Madrid or Man City licking their lips over one of our protégés....

I honestly believe this club as no true direction... im not even sure what ambition Nourry as for moving this club forward, it seems to me we are just another notch on the CV.... but to what end

As my granny told me carry on like that, and it will end in tears

Mate, it is absolutely transparent puff piece bollocks. Forgive me for repeating myself, but thank goodness we beat Leicester.

Did I ever mention that I was in Minder?

It depends on which fans they want to take with them. A bunch of middle-aged blokes who have watched the club fall from the PL 30 years ago and all the crap since then and know bullsh#t when they hear it. Or.......

The youngsters, who lap it up on social media and are to young to know when they're being misled?
Isn't there now a waiting list for season tickets? If its yes, then anyone can be replaced.

Poll: How is Nourry cooking so far ? 🤣

Hmm, I do not know if there is a waiting list for season tickets, but if there is, I suspect those on the list will get lucky this close season! I will be surprised if there is a substantial line of potential season ticket holders next year.

Seems like they are trying to copy Milwall's player trading model and its not going well. Being more transparent would then involve some accountability and they are scared stiff of that. Better to blag it with generic nonsense about inconsistency in the short term. Think the priority is to try and get Hoos out of the club and then the rest will unravel.

Might be missing something but is not the point of the interview that the Trust is in a financial hole and they need new income or they are going to have to cut programs or is that covered in another thread? Not really sure what the benefit is on him weighing in the first team and the "model" we know what it is.

Is the plan really working? - focuses on two young players who are not played regularly - interviewer trying to paint a picture that apart from the last poor patch the season has gone well.
It leaves you with the feeling that very little is going to change and that poor performances are to be expected and that there is very little ambition to do anything other than produce the odd diamond - I can’t recall the last so I’m not holding my breath on finding another.
Inconsistency is one thing but having to watch performances like the ones over the last couple of months is a completely different ball game.

I never lie but I don't always tell the truth

The sheer arrogance of him in the first bit, what sort of fan do you want to be putting it back on us rather than admit any sort of mistakes being made by him or the people working under him. just piss off

Have met Hoos a few times and although he obviously cares about QPR, he is clearly a corporate CFO type character. He’s also American which means he doesn’t quite get it. He’s a nice guy but how we’ve paid him a 6 figure salary for a decade is absurd.

Get bloody rid

Hoos on first team strategy on 06:32 - Mar 18 with 2369 viewsLongRanger

Trading players isn't a strategy if the club isn't successful, build a successful side and other clubs want your players, you then aim to sell one a year, reinvest ans maintain success, but without the foundation of success, his plan is merely a hope.

Eze was a rarety, 20m for a player in a poor side, yet that is their benchmark.

'What sort of fan do you want to be..?'
The sort that is delighted not to have to spend hours of my life screaming into an existential hell-scape created entirely of sideways and backwards passing would be a start. But, you know, 'opinions' and all that.

Correct, got to include the owners too as they are complicit.

It's always next season, next year, jam tomorrow. The most obvious fact in the world is that tomorrow never comes.

What's the point of supporting this club? We don't try in the cups unless forced to do so, now it appears we're not really trying in the league either.

And why is it Hoos saying this and not Nourry?

Hear me out...

While the hubris of taking a job he's not suited for is all Hoo's, he was well regarded football fiscal expert at lots of clubs before he came here.

There are people at Burnley who give him a lot credit for where they are today.

We (QPR) did this to him. Quality People Ruined.

Because Hoos is better at PR bluff than Nourry.

Christian ties himself up in knots when he speaks and even positive things he has done, which there are some, he can score a few own goals, by going into too much detail that he begins to confuse himself.

There may well be a vacancy in Washington DC soon, given he has such qualities !!

TBF on the latter point, if he'd done ten minutes on the community trust and not mentioned the first team, in a week when the club he's chairman of lost 5-0, 4-0, 2-0, 1-0, then he'd have (rightly) got pilloried for that, so they had to ask.

I found his answer dispiriting TBH. It just furthers the impression that it's their club, their "project", and we can come along if we want.

I believe there are several interviews booked in this week in various places so let's see what comes out of those.

It’s just a deflection strategy to try and fool all of us bluff old traditionalists (we are mostly segmented as ‘bots,’ just not the Russian variety).

In terms of PR, it is sideways and backwards in its own right. Imitating what we have seen on the pitch. Defensive first and foremost, with the possibility of a complete brain fart, via a gifted (own) goal.

This is a guy who’s been part of the hiring of Nourry to buffer himself for another couple of years of salary. Nourry is doing the same with all the direct reports he has.

At some stage, when results fall back to what we just witnessed, someone will be scapegoated for one or both of them and we’ll roll on in to next season’s rinse and repeat.

Those possessed by devils, try and keep them under control a bit, can't you ?

Nourry did an interview with Hoops & Dreams yesterday, will go up on youtube next week.

I just found the whole well keep doing what we are doing and the acceptance that we'll lose games and get the odd hammering soul destroying. Why can't we adapt, why should we accept getting hammered and if this is the plan we must stick so faithfully to actually going to work. 11 years of this bullshit

Hoos on first team strategy on 09:02 - Mar 18 with 2069 viewsEastR

So, the interview was set up to talk about the Trust, but as a starter there was a non-scripted question thrown in about the first team.

Remarkably Hoos had to hand the very book he was given when he started out in football to be able to quote directly from and remind us all that we (that’s us folks) need to stop taking the short-term view and get behind the team.
The fans who have stuck by this team home and away with unprecedented levels of support, particularly in the last 4-5 seasons, exceptional.

Not only insulting us in the process but basically treating us like fools.

When you’re an ongoing part of the problem Lee, you can’t be trusted to find the solution.
He needs to go.

He's a much better salesman than Nourry!

At least he was honest enough to admit that we haven't stuck to the plan in the past.

I don't buy the comparison with the Atlanta Braves. They don't have to worry about relegation if they have a few bad seasons, and from what I understand of American sports and the draft system there are actually incentives and rewards if you have a couple of bad seasons and want to invest in young talent.

A few years ago Marc Bircham appeared on the WLS podcast and said QPR need to decide what they are because you can be a development club or a promotion club but you can't be both.

I would agree with Birch's point that you can't do both at the same time but in an ideal world we want to transition from being a development club by putting together a core group of youngsters who grow together and hopefully develop into a top six team

So I can accept youngsters getting their chance for now even if it means some inconsistency, but we can't be intending to remain a development club forever. There must also be a medium-long term plan to push up the table and hopefully make it back to the PL.

I would love to hear someone from the club outlining the medium-long term objectives and how soon/long it will be before we are making a serious push for the top six.

I would also like to know how our chronic injury problems are hurting our short-medium-long term objectives and what the hell we're going to do about it.

Nourry was asked in December what the long term goals were, he replied something along the lines of "I would like to get to the point where I can turn around and say 'this squad can compete for promotion".

There was no time frame on that, when pushed he didn't give us anything.
