| Summer transfer rumours 2026 on 21:46 - Jul 13 by wombat | Think it’s. A poor price for a keeper with decent experience behind him I’d have thought 500k upwards to be honest |
That's the minimum fee I was expecting too. He has had some very good loans and is young, so £500K should be the minimum, but I guess only if there were other bidders.

Exactly, can only sell at the price people are prepared to pay. Good luck to him.

With a name like Murphy Joseph Mahoney I'm betting he's more Irish than Tony Cascarino! Anyway, best of luck to him.

Absolutely, best of luck to him. "He's not Irish" is an old joke that goes back to win we had Murphy O'Mahoney (He's not Irish) and Harry Halwax (He's not English). Cascarino, by the way, is 50% Irish but claimed he wasn't...round about the time his book was about to be launched.

Ah, right. So Cascarino's 50% Blarney Stone. I find that easy to believe! | | | | Login to get fewer ads

He's never played a first team game for us, we may or may not come to regret the decision but £500k is a lot in that context

Apparently there is a sell on fee so you never know. I thought he had a lot of potential. Perhaps it will come through and he'll get a bigger money transfer in a few years.

| Summer transfer rumours 2026 on 18:55 - Jul 14 with 4582 views | Northernr | One of the many things I don’t like about QPR coms/internet land atm is this hyping of fees received. £3m for Armstrong, £5m for Kelman, Dykes etc. We actually got decent fees for those guys, there was no need for this guerrilla internet campaign to make out like it was millions and millions of pounds. It’s particularly frustrating when the accounts come out showing the truth, and nobody pays any attention. People would rather an ITK account lie to them, than be presented with a legally binding document that tells the truth. That’s the age we live in I guess, and certainly in QPR internet land. We’re already seeing it with Cooper, for whom £250k is about right, and you’re seeing ppl starting to lay the ground for Esquerdinha’s departure. On a more positive note, we spent all last season saying the GKers we had were rubbish. Here we are mid July and they’ve all been shifted out and replaced with two good prospects. Might not work out, might be rubbish, Charles might be injury prone, the play out from the back nonsense might cost us (particularly if we don’t now overhaul the midfield), but at least they’ve had a strong, decisive swing at it rather than putting us through another year like the last. Or starting the year with Walsh and then dashing around last week of August begging a loan.

This last paragraph is exactly how I feel Hopefully it is 2 keepers that Stephan wants and its a base thats covered now and we can look at the last piece in the puzzle - A solid DCM - Anything after that will be a bonus

Would be difficult to swallow for me, though. [Post edited 18 Jul 12:51]

Go on then, what would it take? £15m? with 20% sell on? We need to sell after all...

Yeah, that was my question really. I'm never sold on the Brentford-lite approach, but of course many are - so for those that agree with it, what's the price that would be acceptable?

Assuming Southampton have a sell on clause, I'd say £8million plus and we'd have to take it seriously.

Burnley have parachute payments. We've got to be looking in the £15 - £20m bracket.

Doesn't matter if fans are or are not sold on it, it's the club's stated business plan: a player trading model. So, this is it. The only players QPR have who anybody is going to buy for a significant increase on our outlay are those we find as fans hardest to countenance leaving: Kone, Edwards, maybe Madsen with a bit more evidence. We have to start somewhere. Every summer for about a decade Brentford sold their very best, most essential players for a big increase, then reinvested. Their fans hated it. Eventually, they trusted them. Do we trust out recruitment yet? Do we need and want some good midfielders who will improve us, maybe a proper right back? Might have to sell Edwards for 35% profit to get them, as we've a few starting CBs (if we get a RB). Or do we think we'll make more in a year? Very risky. Seldom works like that at Rangers.
