Why would we want them to have unsuccessful loans?

| Summer transfer rumours 2026 on 23:39 - Aug 25 by Hunterhoop | See one of my earlier posts. They could and would have told all the clubs they’re speaking to that they’re speaking to the other six about their players already, in private, in early negotiations. It won’t suddenly be news to those 7 clubs when it goes public. They’ll know already. A buyer will have already used that tactic. And the logic you’re referring to doesn’t apply if the sellers don’t want or need to sell anyway or can sell to a different buyer. It’s simply not the same thing as market economics for goods and commodities, where the seller has to sell because that is their entire business. We could choose not to sell, to sell another player, or to sell later. Anyway, let’s move on. |
Seeing as the ‘mighty’ Peterborough put 5 past Watford last night, maybe they should buy all 7 defenders they are looking at….. (His price just doubled with that and Swansea getting involved. Payment in full up front please.

It would be interesting to see some stats on win% or points won when he starts. I am sure the club measure stuff like that. I think he's still our best centre back when fully fit.
| Summer transfer rumours 2026 on 13:52 - Aug 26 with 6611 views | LazyFan | I bet we have leaked that Swansea are in for JCS to force Watford's hand. I suspect it won't work, and JCS will still be here next week, with an after-match injury at Blackburn or in training, as he always does. Due back in Jan, no doubt, where the whole thing can recycle all over again. | |

Long time since the word 'when' carried such significance. Reading the report that says Watford have several targets in mind, you know exactly what they're doing. Piss balling with five or six players/clubs to drive the cost down of the one or two they really want. Sadly for JCS, his career has been blighted by injuries and I just can't think anyone is going to risk big cash as a result. Exceptionally good when fit, but I suspect anyone would only pay, 'take a punt' money. I'd still sell to get him off the wage bill unless, QPR are truly convinced, they've got him and can keep him, fit to play 30-plus games a season. With Lamptey, Cirkin, and maybe TBK, JCS is another one that's too risky to keep.

I forgot that Larkeche is only 23. Might be in a minority but I want to see him succeed with us, as it seems pretty tragic that his chance at the club would be so derailed by a freak injury. Fingers crossed good loans for all of them, and they can kick on next season!

| Summer transfer rumours 2026 on 15:38 - Aug 26 with 5937 views | TK1 | Season 24/25: Jake Clarke Salter played 33 Championship games. Six fewer than Jimmy Dunne. Not bad. Season 25/26: JCS was out for most of the first half of season with hip injury. Made 14 Championship appearances in total, mostly in the back half after Xmas, though was also unused on the bench for a further five games so presumably fit for those too. He's just done a full preseason and has looked fit and accomplished in his first two full matches. In terms of ability he's a PL level left-sided CB, if perhaps lacking a yard to truly make it there. But a rarity if fit at this level. Players often go through injury-ridden seasons, multiple seasons even, and then prosper. Paul Furlong was a very good example of that. We've just signed two players in Cirkin and Lamptey also in that mould who we hope to prosper with. If we were signing JCS this window, I think people would be excited. If I was a Watford fan hoping to sign a cultured left-footer to play alongside Pollock, I'd be excited. He's a great player. So, I'm gently pushing back on Clive and more forcibly on the typically obnoxious Lassel to assert that this is an asset that I hope QPR get a decent fee for this window, and if not would keep him bubbling until Jan. (And Hunter: yes, QPR have external PRs; but the external PRs who are employed by Watford to manipulate their fans on behalf Gino Pozzi and Scott Duxbury are perhaps even busier: more work) | | | |

He has played more than 30 games once in his career, which was two years ago as you mentioned. If someone is mad enough to pay for him you grab it. Why would you keep a player who can only average 15 games a season? That's nuts. And sorry, he's nowhere near PL level. If he was, he wouldn't be with us. He's like an Alfa Romeo, looks great but constantly breaking down. You eventually tire of it due to all of its problems so end up selling it.

With the rotation possibilities and the intention to rest players, unless we get a super offer, it may be worth trying to manage JCS's fitness this season.

He's definitely been viewed by coaches and international selectors throughout his career before joining QPR as being of a PL calibre. You disagree, which is absolutely fine. But the reason he's with us is because of his injury record, not because he's at his level. He was much more illustrious as an U21 than Ronnie Edwards, for example. He played through the England levels, including U21s, for whom he was captain at the Euros, leading out the likes of Foden, Gibbs White, Maddison etc . He won the FA Youth Cup twice and the UEFA Youth League with CFC, also as captain, playing throughout his CFC career alongside Tomori at CB. He was earmarked as the next Cobham graduate to either play for the first team or become an Ake, Chalobah, Abraham or Guehi, someone to flog to a lower PL team. But he smashed his elbow very badly. Then he did his calf quite badly. He's had bad back and hip issues. So, he's therefore wound up at QPR, where his injuries have continued. But he's not had an ACL or anything catastrophic. And scouts know the player he was and can still be at just 28, as well as his proven leadership quality, hence he being of interest to our rivals. His overall injury history is not really pertinent. He played a full season the season before last. He's been fit since February. He's had no catastrophic injury in his career, beyond that elbow. His ceiling is high still, I think. We can agree to disagree on that. I reckon his value is underrated here and I hope we get a decent fee. (Watch him snap his achilles at Ewood Park now)

This is all well and good but last year wasa bit of a joke was it not? I'm sure I recall him lasting 7 and 12 nins of comeback games and wandering off shaking his head and some strong assertions his head weren't in the game. Not everyone has a well oiled machine - sometimes something will hurt a bit and you crack on through but you need to have that fire in your belly. I just wonder how much his chaffeur, conceierge and other businesses have become priorities and playing through that (low) pain barrier not a thing for him. However, it is undeniable that when he's on song he does seem to glide through games and look the real deal. Surprised to read he was Captain at those levels you note and maybe he does a lot of organising for us which is a quality we certainly need. We'll see......

| Summer transfer rumours 2026 on 18:54 - Aug 26 with 4757 views | EalingHoop81 | You can make stats do what you want by the application of your bias and by simply ignoring the stats that don’t suit your argument. A fit and firing JCS is a very valuable player but his reliability is undoubtedly an issue. I would however point to our other issues with the clubs medical team over the past two years and potentially the desire to get him back playing earlier than perhaps we was ready to. It is also undeniable that he didn’t play more than 15 games in either of the past two years and didn’t look robust for a number of those games. Further, and to put my cards on the table, I refer to him as Mr Glass and my 10 year old has over the past 3 years asked about ‘glass guy’ on a regular basis when talking about injured players. But on the other side it’s not entirely true to say he’s only ever played 30 Games a season once…. In 23/24 he played 33 games for us. In 21/22 he played 31 games for Cov In 18/19 he played 37 games for Vitesse In other seasons there were other footballing reasons why his stats look worse than they are: 17/18 he was loaned to Sunderland in January for half a season, he played 11 games and got 2 red cards so was suspended for a period. 19/20 he played 19 games for Brum and was on the bench for 14 games…was was only missing due to injury for 6, just struggled to be a regular. 20/21 played only 10 games for Brum. Loaned at the end of October and because of a calf injury didn’t play until the end of November. From there he struggled to get into the team, playing 10, on the bench for 10 and not in the squad for the rest, but not reported as injured. Appreciate some may suggest the absence could be similar to his issues with us, but he was benched for a period and then not selected at all. So playing devils advocate, you could put forward an argument that he’s very often injured, usually with niggles and me rarely gets a decent run of games because of it and therefore can’t be relied upon. Alternatively, you could form an argument that for 3 seasons he’s played a full part, for the half season at Sunderland he was fully involved and the two years at Birmingham he was in and out of the team mainly for footballing reasons….. | | | |

If they did that, then Kemper and Mbengue could be cover / subs for the left and right sided centre backs in the three also, but I dont think they will try this ie not done it all pre season.

Didn't Edwards struggle in a back three for Southampton? I know he was a bit of a scapegoat when they were playing badly and they got on his back early doors.

He's not getting in ahead of Cirkin or TBK, and if our third choice RB is being selected ahead of, then the writing is well and truly on the wall. Real shame for him. Hopefully his fortunes change and he gets his career back on track.

If there is an offer for him that is acceptable then it's a no brainer for me. He isn't a starter and can't cope with rigours of Championship football

Yeh it's a system that works well for the centre backs we've got, and I guess now two of the full backs, but nobody else. Mind you, very QPR thing to do to spend money on wingers and then switch to a formation that doesn't use them.
