Think there's more to his absence than we know.
Match fit at Christmas time. Still no sign.
Rumours he is doing community service - unsure about that myself. But his continued absence for me is odd. And if he is actually injured - he has been practically out all season. And surely he must be one of our highest paid players also.
And yes, he has genuinely been our best player for almost every season, he has been here, but clearly has just had a bit part role this season. Also, now especially in his position, we are extremely well stocked with options aplenty.
The only stumbling block, i can see wiith the club moving him on, with this clubs hierarchy as it is currently is, he would be sold somewhere for a bargain basement price, considering his qualities. Feel for the right club would be a great signing, however if his injuries are genuine, the price is difficult to achieve his worth.
Would i get rid now myself - well he has been injured all sesson and must be one of our highest paid players. If we got £2 million plus, bearing in mind he is 28 also, and we have some very promising players in and around his position, i think he will go. I think Nourry will sell and great player that he has been for us, i tend to be uncertain that we should let him go.
i think the player himself may want out also. The continued absence with no news tends to make me think this also.
What do others think is likely to happen with this player ?? We are clearly going to let Field go, it seems, and he has been available all season. i would keep Field myself but maybe Chair has played his last game for the club.
He would certainly go with the blessing of all. A QPR Legend of modern times, no doubt, but even if fit, he is not neccessarily the main man anymore..

Chair is undoubtedly a very skilful footballer but he often unbalanced the team in my view. Became a bit of a one trick pony constantly cutting in to shoot from the left rather than pass. That said, he was often cited as our most dangerous player by the opposition. Always thought he had the quality to play in the Prem but alas, that ship has probably sailed I fear. I will wish him well whatever he decides to do. QPR product who managed to shine in some pretty terrible teams over the years. |  |

Humpty I always try to be respectful even when I totally disagree with a posters opinion. It would be nice I certainly if this was reciprocated so not sure how mocking my profession is relevant to the conversation.

Indeed not your first time being disrespectful to Chair, the other day you likened him to JCS, a shyster who is only available when looking for a new contract. They are polar opposites in terms of (football) integrity and hard work. JCS is a marvellous footballer but has - for reasons unknown- chosen not to play football. Chair was an virtual ever- present for over 6 years.

Please name the stock of players in his position that frequently create chances, get assists, or score goals and have shots at goals. Because Saito and Dembele both flatter to deceive and Poku has barely played due to his dodgy hamstrings.

I don't really disagree with anything you say in principle. But....
1. Nourry was vary petulant about Cook triggering that contract extension last summer. To me that speaks volumes to Nourry's inexperience and lack of maturity. But I think it would now look odd if Nourry wanted to keep Cook here either as player or coach.
2. Cook is still only 34 and has put in a good shift this season. I don't think he would have done that unless he wanted to keep playing next season either for us or someone else.
3. I agree that Cook on the coaching staff would be a big help to develop our young CBs. But isn't that what Steve Bould is already here for? |
Don't disagree with any of that, however;
1. Nourry is a popularist, and I wouldn't be too shocked if Cook did sign on again. I thought Jimmy was gone last summer and shocked when he got the contract he wanted and stayed.
2. It could be a bit of shop window couldn't it? But I thought when he's played Steve has looked good this season. But, not sure there are many takers for him on the wages hes on now, plus he might be looking for longer contracts to see him out?
3. Yeah, I'd forgotten about Bould, that little training video they showed made him look very tidy as a coach, it seemed like he was doing a drill where the defenders got the first pass forward quickly, very nice to see |  | | |

Haven’t seen Chair around the stadium after matches (kids autograph hunting) since December. Seems odd that he’s not visibly present… maybe he looks like Mr Bump, so they’re keeping him out of view until he’s better?
I can’t believe there’s any chance of him leaving. Firstly he’s been injured too much to command a transfer fee which outweighs his value to the club and secondly, he’s blue and white blooded. My feelings too, he doesn't play enough with his head up, and often won't pass to team mates in a better position.

It's what he can do that makes him a valuable player for QPR. Perhaps experience has taught him that the best thing he can do for his team is go for goal himself. With better players around him your criticism might be valid. | | | |

This board makes me laugh sometimes, Williams in the Open All R’s podcast admitted that they had bolloxed up the rehab for both Chair and Poku. Chair I would imagine is still in a recovery mode as infuriating it is for all of us not knowing where his recovery is thanks to the Boy Dictator Nourry.
I’m sure that Chair will be back before the end of the season and will be here for a few years more. He seems to be one of those rare footballers that appreciates what a club has done for him, similarly to what QPR did for Eze. Chair didn’t need to sign a new long term contract, could have seen out the rest of his previous one and would have had the pick of any championship clubs and maybe a few PL ones to with a nice signing on fee and a much higher salary. But he didn’t.
And as for his contribution to the team, let’s face it, after Eze he is the best player we have had at LR in the last decade. When fit for me he is the first name on the team sheet. | |

That's my view on Chair as well.
He has been loyal to the club , although thevclub stood by him through his court case so maybe signing a new deal was payback.
On the pitch, he covers a lot of ground attacking and dropping back to defend, he gets tackles in and holds up the ball when his teammates often fail to do so.
He does tend to hold on to the ball, but that can possibly be down to not having quality players around him. When he played in the same team as Eze, BOS and Wells he didn't hold on to the ball as much, as they had good movement and ability on the ball. When fit, he is good enough to be amongst the first names on the team sheet.
It's a real shame that Williams and Co. messed up his rehabilitation because this is one of the reasons why QPR have dropped away from the playoffs this season. I don't think that with him in the side QPR would have failed to win some of the games at WBA, Portsmouth, Stoke, Oxford, Charlton or Birmingham. | | | |

Chair is a major major asset and he can perform magic but I wouldn't say that he was indispensable. From what I have seen Kolli can play there and pull the strings if necessary. Kolli will bring just as much to a play-off push next season. | | | |
