Rumours he is doing community service - unsure about that myself. But his continued absence for me is odd. And if he is actually injured - he has been practically out all season. And surely he must be one of our highest paid players also.
And yes, he has genuinely been our best player for almost every season, he has been here, but clearly has just had a bit part role this season. Also, now especially in his position, we are extremely well stocked with options aplenty.
The only stumbling block, i can see wiith the club moving him on, with this clubs hierarchy as it is currently is, he would be sold somewhere for a bargain basement price, considering his qualities. Feel for the right club would be a great signing, however if his injuries are genuine, the price is difficult to achieve his worth.
Would i get rid now myself - well he has been injured all sesson and must be one of our highest paid players. If we got £2 million plus, bearing in mind he is 28 also, and we have some very promising players in and around his position, i think he will go. I think Nourry will sell and great player that he has been for us, i tend to be uncertain that we should let him go.
i think the player himself may want out also. The continued absence with no news tends to make me think this also.
What do others think is likely to happen with this player ?? We are clearly going to let Field go, it seems, and he has been available all season. i would keep Field myself but maybe Chair has played his last game for the club.
He would certainly go with the blessing of all. A QPR Legend of modern times, no doubt, but even if fit, he is not neccessarily the main man anymore..

Chair is a major major asset and he can perform magic but I wouldn't say that he was indispensable. From what I have seen Kolli can play there and pull the strings if necessary. Kolli will bring just as much to a play-off push next season.
Come on now. I like Kolli and he hopefully goes on to have a good career (and with us!), but there's no way you can compare him with Chair imo

Not sure. I agree he's been taken for granted a fair bit, but disrespected? I can't say I've seen much evidence of it on here.

They're criticisms of his play for sure, but aside from him being "selfish," I don't read them as disrespectful.

Agreed. And if anything I'd regard his tendency to come very deep defending and looking for the ball as a weak spot in his game.

Sure, you can't compare them as they bring different things to the table but I stand by my belief that Kolli is naturally as good and in my opinion has the potential to reach, maintain and possibly exceed the same level.

Love Ilias, he's a championship Modric. his faults are why he has never made it to the prem, but most championship clubs would want him and rate him. I think he works exceptionally hard off the ball. Even when over the last two seasons when he has had the injury involvements his goal involvements against time on the pitch is exemplary. Yes he has a tendency to overplay and sometimes slow the game down when you dont want him to, but he is also an out ball, someone who can hold the ball, and help the team regain control of the game.
I think he has still got another 10 years in him, I think like Modric he will move centrally as he loses pace but will compensate with his speed of thought and footballing brain.
Re the Cook situation , I think it's well known that Cook came in on a big big wage and I would say has probably been worth every penny. But I get why the club would have wanted him either to move on or to renegotiate, they have a strategy of investing in Centre Backs and they need both pathways, plus they could probably get 2 or 3 highly rated prospects for the money he is on.
If he does go though we do need to bring in another premiership / championship experienced leader.

Will Jimmy, HR and Morrison (not to mention JCS) we have a lot of experienced CB’s already and by all accounts a couple of promising prospects coming through. I feel this is an area that doesn’t need work.

He has been a superb player for us over the years. There is no questions about that in anyways. A total legend.
If he can recover his very best form of his life, he would be an immense player to keep within the squad, however, he has had two seasons of basically been totally hamstrung by injuries and when that happens, as we have witnessed with many players over the years,lengthy injury spells often ruin a players level of skills and abilities or the injuries keep on happening. Obviously like everyone, i sincerely hope that isnt the case, but am certain the club will have this in the back of their minds.
He did sign a new long term contract, only recently, and would have thought behind Cook, he must be a top top earner at the club. i can see the club as they are trying to balance finances. If they consider that he may no longer be the force he was, due to many injuries, in their own minds they may consider be could only be available for 15 - 20 games a season also. But do agree with a lot of posters hete he is unlikely to be moved on, due to the player unable to command the money he is on here for a long period of time.
Someone on this thread said they hoped Chair could be ours for another 10 years and another said they saw him as our Barry Bannan character. Barry Bannan, even up until today has had hardly any injury spells at all in his career. Chair has sadly almost had two seasons out. I think those hopes which do understand, are completely unrealistic.
You do also tend to wonder what his criminal act has had an impact on himself also. He was given a one year prison sentence for hitting someone with such force with a stone or rock that the man suffered a fractured skull. Have to say for that level of crime, to have that reduced to 150 hours community service, he was an extremely lucky man and also to keep his job after this also, most people would get instantly dismissed and to be fair quite rightly so. The defence had said it was in trying to defend a family member. Obviously could have been a moment of madness but i doubt there is anyone on here, i would hope that have hit someone with such force that they fractured a mans skull. and he didnt deny he did it.
i think if a visiting clubs player had this type of conviction, our fans would be all over them, and particularly if he was their best player.
Am all for people redeeming themselves as people but when the trial was announced etc, Chair was at the peak of his powers and am certain he would have been sold for around £10 million at that time, but the court case perversely meant he stayed rather than off to pastures new.
Excuse the pun, but i am on the fence with keeping Chair, but i cant see Chair going because he has a contract in the long term here, and am sure he is one of our highest earners and wont play elsewhere for cheaper.
People on here have also pointed out his weaknesses and he does have some. Personally, i would prefer Madsen and Vale take corners rather than Chair as they put more whip on them and for me have a higher percentage beating the first man and being more dangerous and effective
i dont agree with some on here that others are disrespecting a great player though. A lot of variables to consider in all this for me.
He hasn't really been the same since the holiday incident. It was a pretty serious thing , and whatever the outcome, that must have had some effect on him.

I don’t think he and Madsen are that far apart - but overall I agree with the sentiment, he is pretty much our best player, and by some distance.
Oddly it’s his absence in this second stretch this season that has really made me realise how much more effective he is than our other forward players.
The Ilias Chair we saw just before he got injured was starting to look devastating at this level. Goals and assists in a steady flow, a match winner.
What I love about him is he combines such grit and strength and low centre of gravity. He kinda reminds of a mini Tevez sometimes.

I have often commented on previous threads about his underrated defensive work, I respectfully suggest his critics actually watch him and take notice of his tracking back and tackling. The only other attacking player who works as hard is Smyth.

Well I'd say it's unlikely anyone will buy him in view of the last 2 year's injuries, certainly for a price we would want to accept (unless we are desperate to unload the wages and think he will hardly play).
Personally I love Chair, a bright spark over many years, and I hope he stays next season, which potententially starting with everyone back to fitness could, amybe, possibly, get us off to a good start. People forget he is often doubled up on which means more space for everuyone else.
For me, if he is back fit and playing next season, we are likely to have a better season. I hope he will be, and think he will (even if the current evidence doesn't specifically suggest that).
Who was the last R to get a testimonial? Remember going to Gavin Peacock's one v Chelsea when we couldn't play anyone because we had the playoffs to look forward to

Haven't watched this yet but thought it was a terrific idea of the media team (Matt Webb) to do that deep dive with Madsen in the summer and was a big part of his turn around this year so hopefully this has similar effect.

After all the time he's been out, it's great to hear from him and I hope we'll see him get a little time on the pitch before the close of the season.
I was disappointed that the specifics of his injury were not mentioned. I know the most recent injury update said it's his calf but it had been kept quiet up until then. To have heard a bit more about that in this interview would have been appropriate, I think.
