Think there's more to his absence than we know.
Match fit at Christmas time. Still no sign.
Rumours he is doing community service - unsure about that myself. But his continued absence for me is odd. And if he is actually injured - he has been practically out all season. And surely he must be one of our highest paid players also.
And yes, he has genuinely been our best player for almost every season, he has been here, but clearly has just had a bit part role this season. Also, now especially in his position, we are extremely well stocked with options aplenty.
The only stumbling block, i can see wiith the club moving him on, with this clubs hierarchy as it is currently is, he would be sold somewhere for a bargain basement price, considering his qualities. Feel for the right club would be a great signing, however if his injuries are genuine, the price is difficult to achieve his worth.
Would i get rid now myself - well he has been injured all sesson and must be one of our highest paid players. If we got £2 million plus, bearing in mind he is 28 also, and we have some very promising players in and around his position, i think he will go. I think Nourry will sell and great player that he has been for us, i tend to be uncertain that we should let him go.
i think the player himself may want out also. The continued absence with no news tends to make me think this also.
What do others think is likely to happen with this player ?? We are clearly going to let Field go, it seems, and he has been available all season. i would keep Field myself but maybe Chair has played his last game for the club.
He would certainly go with the blessing of all. A QPR Legend of modern times, no doubt, but even if fit, he is not neccessarily the main man anymore..

Haven't watched this yet but thought it was a terrific idea of the media team (Matt Webb) to do that deep dive with Madsen in the summer and was a big part of his turn around this year so hopefully this has similar effect. |

Couldn’t quite believe some of the earlier comments in this thread, Chair must be the only player who has got worse in people’s heads while injured. Usually they become world beaters
Without Chair we would have 100% been relegated in the Beale-Ainsworth-Cifuentes era and he carried the team at times on his own. I hope he makes record breaking appearances for us now as I think his time for a big money transfer might have passed

On Ilias alone, it’s great to hear from him and hear him talk so well and passionately.
A lot of head shaking whilst reading through this thread. People entitled to their opinion of course, but if you think we are a better team without Ilias, then I don’t know what to say to you .
Been our talisman for years now and is by far our best player . He’s also the most , driven, the most dedicated and he sets the highest standards in that dressing room.
A dressing room he’s been away from for the best part of a month .
No mention of why, no mention of even what’s wrong with him and no mention of how it happened or anything about it .
And because of this it’s hard to not watch it with a hint of cynicism.
It feels like the ‘club’ have said “we’ve done our interviews, now can you please go and do one to stop the nasty people moaning at us …oh and please don’t mention A, B and C.
Chair was guided by Paul Morrissey to talk about the medical staff but he doubled down on saying how much his wife had supported him. Only when asked directly about the ‘QPR family’ did Chair thank some back room staff and even then mentioning that those people had been there since he’d walked into the building .
My own opinion based on what I’m told is that Chair has a bit of a problem and he knows it . He is BC (before Christian) . The ego fest playing out at the top of our club continues and that means players that are BC often have a problem for one reason or another (Cook, Dykes, Kolli, Field….even Jimmy was being moved on until it fell through….was never told why ). The club are seeing his value start to decline as he is now 28 so I think they feel under pressure to have him as a sellable asset and that window is quickly closing .
One of the biggest issues Nourry, Williams et al is their inability to deal with ‘people’ and difficult situations. Zero people skills and they often make rash decisions again down to their own egos.
I do wonder if Chair felt the walls closing in on him In some way and pushed back?
I don’t know, maybe I’m just a cynical old sod .
It was great to hear from Ilias and I love his passion and drive .

Exactly, Mart. That's precisely the issue I have with the interview. The club was silent for months about Chair's injury until a couple of days before this interview was released. But, neither Chair nor Morrisey mentioned the nature of the injury. Why do that with someone who is arguably our star player? And, this is in the context of fans' complaints about the lack of information on players' injuries, of which the club is well aware.

Well the interview with Chair I saw a day or 2 ago was probably less than a 5 minute long clip from the full interview and just had Chair saying when he expected, currently, he'll be back. I've just seen the full interview on the Official and he says a hell of a lot more, in particular about the negative impact of negative comments on social media especially on young players. That was my takeaway as well.
He gave a really good assessment of how much the negative social media comments can affect younger players when they just want to give 100% - and also how much the positive and constructive comments, as well as support at the match, can boost their confidence. | | | |

Its definitely a positive vibe from Ilias in this interview and he has admitted it has caused him problems whilst being out for so long which I can completely understand, especially knowing his will to win.
If I was Christian Nourry, in general I would peddle out people such as Chair to talk up the club as the fans can so much more relate to what he says than ultimately the hierarchy and to be fair he speaks much more eloquently.
I can't recall too much said about his injuries and why they have been so serious and long term, and we are yet to know whether they are the kind of injuries that could reoccur time after time.
We saw the effect injuries had on Chris Willock and his fear in his play of them resurfacing and he still picked up further troubles consistently.
I dont believe with Ilias that he will hold back but I hope he recovers his form as it would be a massive boost for the club, but clearly that is all unknown as yet.

Slightly strange interview. The guy has been out for most of the season and nothing about the injury itself. Felt like another Nourry staged interview. I’ve always liked Chair but I think his best days are sadly behind him. Not sure we would get much for him now with his age. | | | |

Ok, I’m in for. Good kicking here, but I hope you understand where I’m coming from….
Chair has been a great player for us up until about 4 years ago (maybe slightly less) when he started to not look up at where he’s going or whom he is passing to. this head down attitude merely led him to dead ends in his runs, where he would have, previously looked and ran into space with the ball, to either lay it off or have a crack at goal.
This head down attitude when ‘going on a run’ has clearly frustrated his fellow players, especially when there were players available to lay off to, and has meant that we never had the Chair we needed.
Most players who have been off, then been off some more, then broken down in training before going off some more, are rarely a player that will come back to being ‘fighting fit’ and creative. Moreover, this type of player coming back off a very protractive layoff, are more ‘distant’ while playing, saving themselves from further injury by staying on the edge of a game rather than being right in it.
I don’t think we will see a heads up, running for goal, hitting the net, fantastic player, that I would love to see on the hallowed turn again. However, my heart does rule my head there, and I hope to see him back next season, not this. | | | |
