As I said a while ago, I thought people would be cross about Paul Furlong. So, I clearly don't know any more. Be interested to see how this lands because I would think a lot of our most vocal, atmosphere generating, online support base is either in that 23-25 strand or shortly will be. Already had a couple of messages from lads that age who are facing a £300 rise.
And the coms is all "you abused the concessions", "in line with the rest of the Championship", "national insurance increase", "minimum wage increase" and no mention that they've staffed the place up to the gills with Jake Humphrey job titles and spent a lot of money on footballers and their wages. |
So in the release they say that "This is due to ticket misuse" - that's really odd. So are they saying that people who were older than 25 bought the ticket (surely they could have stopped that at source) or that the right aged person bought the ticket but gave it to older people? If that was just occasional, so what? Introduce a scheme where if you pass on your season ticket to someone older, you can pay the difference in the match fee or something.
Did I miss a communication on this before or did they just save it up to add to the excuse list? [Post edited 21 Apr 15:27]

I went back and read Nourry’s message from last year as well as this year’s.
Last year’s he talked about patience, difficult spells, sold out home games, packed away ends, and even made a point of saying the thank you wasn’t just a token line. It at least sounded like he got what fans were putting in.
This year’s reads much more like club comms boilerplate. Positive strides, optimism, young group, club to be proud of etc.
That’s the disconnect for me. He’s answering a mood question while supporters are asking a fairness question. People aren’t mainly arguing about whether the club feels optimistic. They’re asking whether it’s fair to scrap free U8s, fold 23-25s into adult pricing, and hit younger fans and families like this.
That’s what jars. If you’re going to do it, own it and explain it straight. Don’t do the warm words version while making it harder for the next generation of supporters to come. |

My understanding is you can withdraw it as cash but it will have to be done before the end of June, otherwise they'll snaffle it back off you. But you can't do it until the season is over (and when they open it up I guess who knows, I seem to remember last year people having to chase it...)

I don't really want to renew but I can get a ticket for myself and my two kids in the family stand for around £700. I think if I bought tickets match by match it would be about £60 per game for the three of us. That means I only need to make it to 12-13 games next season to make it worthwhile and not have the hassle of booking tickets.
I think maybe we'll renew but just go less. Perhaps skip the midweek games. Took us an hour and a half to drive up today and over an hour home. Can't really be bothered with that any more. | | | |

And for the first time ever, last night I saw staff checking tickets and the ages of people after entry, clearly catching a few over 25s with 23-25 year old tickets as if to back up the point in the comms about misuse. Haven’t seen any check that all season. It’s so cynical.
And on top of all this, the removal of the 23-25 concession won’t stop any misuse. You’ll just now have 24 and 25 year olds trying to get in on an U23 ticket. If there isn’t a rigorous process in place to check tickets and prevent that, it’ll happen too. The only people at the gates are a couple of stewards checking bags normally. Are they going to be trained to spot and check a 26yr old who is trying to enter on a U23 ticket? The issue remains.
To pretend or say that the way to solve this potential issue (and I reckon the amount of revenue missed is very low relatively to our overall income) is to remove the 23-25 concession is disingenuous or stupid. |  | | |

I just don't think it is an issue unless there is some kind of mass cynical operation going on where u23s buy season tickets on behalf of older people. Which I very much doubt.
All that is happening is that maybe parents and kids with a season ticket can't go to a certain game, so they hand over their ticket to two people who can, who most probably don't fit the age criteria? Who cares in this instance? Better than empty seats and they may buy something from the shop, become QPR fans etc. Just have an "honesty policy" in this instance where the season ticket holder can pay forward or something for what should have been the adult price.
Seems a total lack of foresight to me. Or maybe I am wrong and there is some Organised Crime Gang who has discovered you can buy a QPR season ticket for a few hundred quid less. | | | |

i have not read every thread but our fanbase has been the only highlight this seaon, our young fans are our future , they have seen no success , nothing so why make them suffer more by pricing out?? a poor decision by our board, even if we are skint do not punish the kids or concessions.
it is not just the matchday prices, it is the travel, grub, beers etc that adds up. most games are 100quid per game. | | | |

I have always paid for my son and daughters season tickets. The new season was going to be my son's first time of paying for himself as he is now 23 and earning good money. However getting rid of the 23 - 25 age discount he told me he may not bother at that price as he does miss a few games due to work commitments.
Such a shame we have all sat together for the best part of 18 years and he may now drift away from going.
We are going to have a rethink - We may not renew any of our season tickets and just pay on a game by game basis next season as that way when he does go we can still sit together. | | | |

I’ve been saying for a while now that Williams is a lot more involved than you would expect someone with his background and title to be. He has mandate - either by design or by force - over hiring and firing decisions and player management, let alone financial and backroom decisions. | | | |

We've been through this already - we don't need a new ground.
We're simply going to buy all the houses on Ellerslie Road, the School behind the away end, dig down and build a conference centre with a football pitch attached.
My restricted view season ticket is still under £500 which I can accept, but for those with uninterrupted views should be getting a f*cking discount! [Post edited 22 Apr 10:14]
