I don’t think they get called out enough for it by the “pundits”. Shearer talking about @we know how much they want to win…”. Their behaviour on the pitch, when they win and when they lose….it’s embarrassing. |
What would be more appropriate is if FIFA did the calling out. Time and time again, we see their petulance, ignorance, and blatent cheating tactics allowed to go unchecked by the game's governing bodies.
Some of what went on last night was simply out of order. As we've seen in their last two games: they're behaviour when they lose is every bit as poor when they win! All of it, deliberate, deep-grained and frankly, it's institutionalised and no doubt, they'll wake up today complaining of being victims.
But there is something delicious when someone who can dish it out but can't take it gets their comeuppance. Nasty little pricks, many of whom need a proper shoeing, starting with Messi for his pathetic effort to get Big Hair sent off. Just leave me that piggy-eyed Simeone por favor! |  |

Pleased that Spain won it, especially with all the antics of the Argies, who are a disgrace, especially those scenes at the end of the game. Rodrihi back to his best in the Spain midfield, lovely footballer. We should thank Spain for trying to play football against a team who just wanted to disrupt them and either try and score a scruffy goal or drag it out to penalties. You sort of look at it with hindsight if England could have got through their semi, most likely a much better spectacle the final would have been. Any money that goes to Argentina from World Cup participation should be withdrawn as a penalty for those scenes after the final and for the banner celebrations after the England match. |  | | |

And let’s not forget the antics of our very own scummy fans at Euro 2020 (21) busting into their own show stadium and taking the seats off proper fans who’d paid to get in. Quite honestly, we shouldn’t be hosting another major football tournament for another 60 years after that and yet we’re getting an opportunity to do the same 7 years on and with home advantage, will probably win it.
I’m a proud Englishman but we’re top dogs when it comes to fouling up football tournaments.

It's a shame they went full shithouse in the final as they can play but clearly calculated that Spain were too good. Awful match but thankfully the tournament's best team won. A decent World Cup but showed there aren't that many great teams around - the best four teams in the world made the semis and while you could argue that the likes of Portugal and Germany underperformed, it was very Eurocentric. Africa still not doing what it should, Brazil playing like Barnsley and Asia a complete let down. I didn't know that stat about the winners always being coached by a native, so I'm off to bet my house on Klopp and Germany in 2030. | | | |

Slapped him, but I'd like to know what he said to prompt Jude to act ike that. Which is incomparable with what the Argies did by way of seemingly unprovoked attacks on players celebrating winning the WC.
The fact you compare our scummy fans with the Argentine football team says a lot. Fans who were vilified left, right, and centre. What is a better comparator, are the England teams in 2024, 2020 (21), and France 2022. They reacted with dignity after the game toward their victorious opponents as much as how they played their games as well.
It's nowhere near as being high and mighty as you suggest, but finding the behaviour of the Argentine players repugnant yet again, and knowing FIFA will do sod all about it, yet again, is grating.
They're the worst winners going, only surpassed by how appallingly poor losers they are!

I was thinking the same while watching the game. As you say, he's either encouraging it or turning a blind eye as long as they get the results. Either way, he's responsible.

The thing that annoys me the most is they have talent, they are capable. The problem is they have such massive egos they just HAVE to win, especially with all the pumped up hype around Messi, and the desperation to win has led to desperate measures.
Sure, England, France, Germany, Brazil etc all want to win too but all of them can't. You have to accept that you just might not. It's tough to take, for sure, but their utter desperation to win at any costs is quite sickening.

Hand on heart, I wouldn't want to win that way. I hate it when a Fulham or England player dives, I hate "tactical fouls" on the halfway line, and I have no time for players who just run around fouling all the time. Does my head in. Play hard but just don't be a cu nt. Win or lose with pride. | |

Spain almost fell into the trap we did. Two very good chances for Argentina to equalise then it would have been pens and that would have been a travesty if they’d won it.
Martinez kept them in it and he should be pee’d off his team mates did nothing to actually try and win the game. |
Indeed - much as we moaned about England at 1-0 up but Spain very nearly did the same against a team with ten men, Argentina had two very presentable chances but missed them both (or well, one was very well cleared behind for a corner). With an extra man Spain just stopped keeping the ball and let Argentina come at them. It was very odd to be honest.
Anyway the best team in the tournament won so we can all be grateful for that.
England would definitely have given Spain more of a game but we'd still have lost.
The Argentina tactics were a bit mystifying (arguably in keeping with most of their games of only coming alive once they were behind). But they played the role of pantomime villains to a tee  |  |
