Fantastic choices mate; filled a few gaps for me there. I have to add: Maze live in New Orleans. Not everyone’s cup of tea, but for me, the greatest live album ever. I feel so lucky that I got to see them at Hammersmith.
Gave that some consideration too, but BlackCrowe, rather uncharitably IMO, banned ‘live’ albums in the OP. Good for you though, Mick. About time we had a bit of disruption.

Also saw them at Hammersmith. Would have been 1987? One of the best live acts I've seen ever. It is a great live album. That could be another thread/topic. Best live albums, might have been done before. For me its James Brown Live at the Apollo.

Interesting to see Blood On The Tracks mentioned. It’s one of my favourite Bob Dylan albums but I have always thought Buckets Of Rain doesn’t really fit on it & the album would be better if it wasn’t there.
My eldest and I are going to see a gig today in Liverpool, 60th anniversary of Blonde On Blonde so I’d choose that one.
I’m an Elvis Costello fanatic & I notice King Of America has already been mentioned. I’m not that keen on Eisenhower Blues or Loveable on that album, so I’m going to suggest Blood & Chocolate, Painted From Memory, Imperial Bedroom, This Years Model or Trust instead.
Style Council is a great shout, I might be more Cafe Bleu.
Costello, I Love KoA, but Imperial Bedroom is also outstanding, as is Punch The Clock. For the initiated, maybe Armed Forces is a classic ‘pop’ album ?
Saw him last week at Shepherds Bush Empire, solid gig.

Regards Sandinista, it’s become a great album but still too big IMO. Triple with 6 sides ! It would make a brilliant single album and a decent double. But OP suggests ‘All killer, no filler’. Surely some of the tracks on side 6 are fillers. Be they, kids singing, played backwards or just a bit cr@p ? It’s London Calling for me.

I have to suggest the Greatest Live album ever is
Stop Making Sense - Talking Heads (and watch the Jonathon Demme film too !) Followed by The Who, Live At Leeds.
My favourite track on A Brazilian Love Affair is Sugar Loaf Mountain featuring a 21 year old Sheila E. Fast forward 45 years and Brian Culbertson releases an album containing a song called On the Road which is along the same lines of Sugar Loaf Mountain and also features Sheila E! It also has BOTH Nathan East and Marcus Miller on bass.

Possibly true, but this thread is why I still by albums. I love an album that hangs together, and one with no filler tracks is a wondrous thing. ("Ziggy Stardust" is one of the all-time greats IMO, but I wouldn't like to have to stake my life on "It ain't easy." If he hadn't given All The Young Dudes to Mott The Hoople, and you swapped that one in, it'd be on my list)
Anyway, avoiding one or two others have mentioned: Heaven Or Las Vegas Song For A Seagull Never Mind The Bollocks

That's why I went with Aladdin Sane - all unskippable.
The modern album thing is interesting - the only one I can think of recently is Ali (Vieux Farka Touré and Khruangbin album).
I'd also add 2 Ruff Vol 1 by Chase and Status; not really an album but a series of tracks that get mixed into other things.
Just as an aside, even allowing for the gentlemen of a certain age demographic, I'm loving the depth of music appreciation here including quite a few things I need to listen to and some I've never heard of.

I enjoyed it, but the first hour was at times tough. The slow piano version of Everyday I Write The Book being a point in case. It’s a great song and I’m not sure that version worked. The last 40 mins were brilliant though.
As an aside, hopefully you caught Chris Difford before him. He was very good and Very funny chatting between the songs.

Agreed he certainly likes to vary his phrasing on a few of his songs (which makes singing along tricky!) but at the age of 71 his voice is as strong as ever and his backing group was superb. All in all was a great night, really pleased I went.
