Westminster Council looking at banning vertical drinking in its pubs and clubs. Blimey, when I first went in pubs it was considered effeminate to sit down.

Somebody bought one of the flats adjacent to the C&S and immediately started complaining about the noise. Council immediately started imposing restrictions on having live music etc. You moved next to a pub you twt.
Oooh I got a great price on my new house next to Heathrow Airport, I never expected there'd be the odd plane going over the roof.
I live about 6 miles from Heathrow and accept that planes going overhead from time to time is a pay off for suburbia living compared to a small 2 bed flat in Camden that didn't have planes overhead.

It's not surprising people are interpreting that as the council wanting to replace traditional standing pubs with seated venues.
People will interpret this how they want especially in these culture war days when everyone thinks everyone is out to get them, but I don't think there is any actual suggestion that if you stand in a pub, that pub will lose its licence. It looks to me another case of a fuss over nothing.
It's how the world is going, these older more traditional pubs are pretty empty nowadays so maybe need to adapt to get people through the door

Yep, they got rid of the Astoria, the mean fiddler, the borderline, that venue that kept changing names (but was called the fly for a while), madame jojos, most of the guitar shops in Denmark st and probably more. Used to go there all the time to go to gigs or buy stuff like guitar strings. It had the added bonus of being about 30 mins on the Piccadilly line for me too.
