Positives
We won't need to take penalty shoot outs in league matches
It looked like great weather
Pitch looked amazing - well done Ben Williams
Millwall did not throw seats at us (remember when Seaman was in goal league cup in 1987)
Who was brave or stupid enough to go to the second leg? (me haha)
Negatives
We remain mentality and physically weak against teams like Millwall
Burrell out wide is not going to work
Chair still slows us down and mostly his set piece play is poor - give it to Madsen.
If Charles wants to make it as a goalkeeper he needs to lift and not only be brilliant with his distribution but save shots and crosses too. Protect the goal first mate! [Post edited 8 Aug 17:25]

Very disappointing to lose like that on pens, but I felt there was quite a lot positives to take away from that.
Defensively very solid and gave nothing away (apart from the mistake for the goal).
Charles looks very comfortable on the ball and made a big difference to our control of the game - being able to recycle into an attack rather than just hoof it away.
Two big weaknesses today was chair and burrell. Burrell I'm not convinced about out wide, chair hopefully just an off day. Overall my optimism for the season hasn't been damaged too much. | | | |

Roughly 80% of penalties are scored (I think it’s dropped a bit down the years but somewhere close to that) and there have been players who have far eclipsed that in their careers so I don’t think it is a lottery. Pressure does funny things to good footballers I’m sure at big tournaments or finals but that shouldn’t really be a factor in a first round League Cup tie. So a roughly 1 in 625 chance of missing four in a row. I’d need to see them again but all but Vale’s seemed like something from an under-8s game. | | | |

Dont get the shoehorning of Burrell out wide. Contrary to popular opinion, putting a striker out wide rarely works, if ever. A striker and a winger are fundamentally different positions.
Burrell has got to play up front, and if that is as a lone striker in a new formation, so be it. He’s better than Kone, who, similar to many games last year, was poor.
Overall, a dull game despite a nice opening 15 minutes. Looked like a game from last season. | | | |

His distribution is very good isn’t it . Huge upgrade .
However, I also lost count of the times he lumped it straight to the head of the 2 biggest centre backs in the division. When did this fixture get announced, June?
Thats where I worry about Stefan . We did try to play , but when we recycled and recycled some more , we pumped it long to those 2 giants. Realise it’s not easy but no one said it would be .
Can’t we come up with something better?

Charles's raking cross field long passes right to the boots of the intended player reminded me of Beckham at his best.
Could be a huge attacking bonus for the tesm.
But the dayjob he failed on today, probably because he is vertically challenged for a goalkeeper. Hopefully, it was an out of character error and when he is properly tested in a game, we can begin to see his qualities. | |

On the Charles thing he tried to catch it when he should have tipped it over the bar, over confidence if anything, hard to judge on any other goalkeeping because "wall create absolutely nothing so he had very little to do other than play as the beckenbauer sweeper / playmaker role and some of his passing was fantastic. |  | | |

Wish we could get rid of some ignorant ‘supporters’ too. Absolute moron behind me in the Upper Loft wouldn’t stop screaming and shouting at Richard Koné. Was completely unhinged, pissing everyone off within a 20 yard radius. Even I’d had enough after an hour of this bile and turned round to ask him to rein it in.
Needless to say I was met with a volley of abuse, the idiot then trying, unsuccessfully, to flip the cap off my head.

I hope you are wrong. I love Kone, but think Burrell with his pace is less predictable and likely to cause oppo defences more issues. Play both and sacrafice a wide man if we need to stodge up midfield a bit more |

He didn't look imposing stood on the goal line for the pens. Whereas their bloke filled the goal.
