He is the difference between a top half and bottom half finish for me. Completely transforms how we play, and whilst he isn't the strongest keeper for actual goalkeeping traits, his distribution is top half Premier League level.

Mmm, jury's out for me. Yes, generally he's good with his feet but that's 2 rickets in 2 games. Fortunately, yesterday's clanger didn't result in a goal. Had it done, it would've dramatically altered the momentum of the match and we perhaps wouldn't be basking in the glory of victory today.
I also think he isn't tall enough for a goalkeeper and, crucially, he isn't ours. That being said, he looks an upgrade on last year. If he can iron out those basic mistakes, then he'll do for now. [Post edited 16 Aug 16:04]

I don’t post very much more of a lurker, but I like the way we play with this GK, control the ball and you control the game especially with a 2 goal lead. Yes he will make an error with this style, but for long periods in that 2nd half Pompey could not get the ball as we just played it round them and we looked good, reminded me a bit of the old QPR in the 70s and 80s. He should improve and he’ll work out when to to go short or long. There was also a Cruyff turn he made in the box, so he is a confident lad, which you need if you’re going to play out, hopefully the crowd will get behind him. | | | |

If we’re going for a “we’re going to score more than you whether it’s 1-0 or 5-4” approach then he seems ideal.
It was amazing how much possession and attacking opportunities we were able to get with a keeper who can control and pass like that - certainly never seen one at Rangers before.
Makes full-backs with an immaculate first touch really important too, was really impressed how Poku and Mbengue were taking down some tricky driven balls from the keeper, our first goal was all down to it.
I agree we need to forgive his occasional and inevitable rick as it really adds something to our play [Post edited 16 Aug 16:24]

He looks is so young and small to me though.
First corner Pompey had my heart was in my mouth but he claimed it safely through a slight crowd.
Was highly rated when thrust into Cheff Weds action but I always wonder if that’s due to how busy he would have been in a bereft team? If you’re facing 20 shots a game you’ll be busy and look great for the cameras but I call those “playground keepers” very much like five a side.
Need to see what he’s like with periods of concentration required and how physical he is when we play dark arts and direct teams that are bang on their games.
I have no idea if he’s vocal and controls his box / the game in front of him but I’ll be watching that when I attend next week.

His distribution is top notch but he has a lot of work to do in terms of taking crosses and commanding his box. Still very young so loads of time to learn this BUT he MUST BE TAUGHT IT. He cannot be in the team just because he plays a nice pass, otherwise we might as well use him in midfield until.Madsen is fit. The primary function of a goalkeeper is to keep goal. I don't give a damn about the one he passed to a Portsmouth player even if it led to a goal That is gonna happen occasionally. But the two crosses he heisitated over and caused mayhem in his own six yard box are much more concerning. We were forrunate with 2 of our goals especially Saito's and they were unlucky with 2 of their attempts.. The scireline could easily have been reversed which would have meant there was a very different mood on here. Love his footwork, but he needs to get his hands up to speed. | | | |

Keepers who pass out generally all make a Motd howler every so often - Allison, Ederson, Martinez - it is a risk/reward call against playing higher up and moving the ball quicker, and I don't mind that at all.
Charles does though kick from hand a yard and a half out of his area! Can't remember last time I saw a ref call one, but..?! |  | | |

He’s so accurate with his passing, I think that duff pass was just him looking for some diving practice. Was only surprised he didn’t palm the second effort out to Bishop in the six yard box and make the scorpion save as Bishop tries to chip him.

Fantastic stuff. It’s completely changed the way we approach games and long may it be allowed to continue. Pressure off the defence and instant pressure on the opposition. It’s just so good to watch.
