Yep - better decision making will hopefully come with games. He did the hard bit and was alert to the knock on. He’s our player, so hope he has a good season, scores lots of goals and returns with confidence.

Sat up beautifully to just head it in. Don't think we'll see Macca in the hoops again.
The miss is bad but it’s the half heartedness that grates.
Someone with a predatory instinct, which is a feature of all successful centre forwards, would have buried that chance at the earliest opportunity. Forwards shoot first and ask questions later!
In one moment, he has demonstrated that he doesn't have that instinct. If I was his coach, I'd be livid and would look for another role for him on the pitch.

I agree.
I don't know if he can tackle and defend, but he has the physic for a CB. And his movement is decent. I wonder if he could be converted?
I think we need to remember he is coming off the back of very little competitive football over the past year and is now being asked to step up again and carry the main goal threat for his side. Going to take a little time for him to settle down and get going again. He will be OK, he gets in the position score sufficiently and will get opportunities, he was never bad before, just lacked coaching/nous.
Charlton mate was surprised we bought him as felt he probably needed a little longer work at League 1 to develop as he was hard working, but horribly naive in places, but equally seemed to actually have quite a good eye for goal. My suspicion is that League 1 may be his level, but was hoping that a season working with Charlie would really help him.
The guy has talent and heart, but he's way too inconsistent at our level.
I think he has 3 in 5 for Ipswich and the ITFC Forum members are giving him decent ratings (apart from stinkers for that miss upthread) so he's doing alright there. Hopefully it is the making of him and either he goes there for a fee or comes back to us for a genuine shot at the 1st team (Charlie can't go on forever.)
Pretty sure his chances are better in his home town where the fans cut him slack as one of their own than with us where some fans have already made their minds up and will get on his back when he makes mistakes.
