Any difficulties ? I went to BP/Sainsbury's at Manor Circus on the A316 and was shocked to find no normal unleaded or diesel, just super unleaded. Didn't expect Shortages this quickly.

Fuel prices are going to be the least of our worries. Food is going to go through the roof due to fertiliser commodity prices. The full effect won't be felt until next year. Commodity prices on everything from polymers to aluminium are up to 40% higher already. SE Asia, including China has ceased exports to concentrate on supplying their own domestic market. Shipping insurance up 300%. Worst global energy shock in history. Will take at least 4 years to recover, if the war stopped and everything went back to normal tomorrow.
We know everyone is pretty much entrenched in their political views but I think for the US at least, this might be the tipping point where MAGA finally snap. If they don't they're even bigger idiots than already.
As with guns, the desire for cheap petrol and gas-guzzling pick-up trucks is very much deep rooted into their psyche.
Challenge that and you have problem but they will have a decision to make..... save face and keep supporting Trump despite rising costs of everything (contrary to pre-election promises) or make a stand.

Sounds like a nicely balanced presentation.
Nevertheless for sure we will be seeing inflation going up. It is very unfortunate as things seemed to have settled down just before this all started. It is not good. We have had notifications of price increases here where I work. As we retail and distribute product we will just increase our prices to compensate. Thus the end user gets hit with it.
Yup panic buying has started the garage at Sainsbury's in South Ruislip was sold out but got some easily at Esso in Cowley. As Terry has said the prices in Ipswich are always cheaper, we are up there a lot with family and always fill up, why that should be is a bit of a mystery.

I think it is often to do with distances needed to distribute the fuel as that is quite a large bit of the cost. Maybe the proximity to where the stuff comes in?

I think the fuel for most of our region gets sent out from Thurrock in Essex,so it shouldn’t really be much cheaper than elsewhere,but who knows for certain.
Another problem is the huge number of people who are entrenched in their world view that they must drive their huge SUV for less than a mile or two for any sort of mundane trip that you could walk in less than 20 minutes. No wonder the traffic is so bad and desire for fuel is high.
For example if you exit out of Harrow On The Hill station to the opposite side from the shopping centre at certain times of the day the short road in is totally blocked up despite double yellows on both sides. People, usually just one, sat in their huge vehicle with the engine running waiting to pick up someone off the tube. I can walk home from there in 10 minutes yet I have neighbours who DRIVE to the station and back to pick up partners/kids etc. It's totally insane. There are about 15-20 different bus routes from the station if you really need them. I know they aren't always the best but they'd be much better if the roads were less clogged up.
I get some people have mobility issues or need a car for specific reasons but honestly I think most trips can be avoided. I have a car but I think I use it once a week if that.

I well remember petrol rationing during the Suez crisis in 1955. People were nicking petrol by syphoning it from cars' petrol tanks. This induced carmakers to introduce lockable petrol caps. These days they just nick your whole car. I hate to think of us at odds with the USA. We are at one with them, it seems natural. We grew up on Hollywood movies, Gershwin, jazz, blues, country, Fender guitars and so on.

I think, I read something years ago that said East Anglia is cheaper as fuel comes over from Rotterdam. Is there also numerous supermarkets competing with each other on fuel prices?
