I was always a self confessed fan of Sam Field and felt letting him go was a mistake as still had lots to give. Got to admit though that this fella is a step up.
He is one of those players who sees the game a couple of frames ahead of the action. His first touch is always into a tiny pocket of space away from the opposing player, that gives him time to dictate. A real calm head on his shoulders. Can pick a pass. Never shirks a challenge I felt he just shaded Lamptey as the stand out player in the first half but he did fade badly as second half wore on. As he faded it seemed Cardiv managed to get on top more; in a funny sort of way it proves Kamaras worth even more.
Appreciate he’s not played much football last couple of seasons so I hope his match fitness can build up as we go.
Spoke to him and he said he’s developing, remains focused and once fit he will zoom - the Kamara never lies.
Kudos again to the club for this signing on current evidence

Funny you should mention Field. During the first half I did think how lucky we were to watch a team so drastically improved from those games during the 23/24 and 24/25 seasons where the play was to endlessly pass it across the back four with no forward momentum and Field and Varane in the midfield. There was no identity to the team. It was desperately poor stuff. I described it as some of the worst football I’d ever seen at QPR. Watching this current team and the progressive way they play, maybe a few more might concede that I might have had a point.
Kamara reminds me of Derry and Holloway. Always there sorting stuff out and keeping it simple. He runs the game very quietly but he's always in and around the ball somewhere. Tremendous start from a player who had barely kicked a ball for a few seasons!
Yeah, he’s was brilliant tonight, always seemed positionally aware breaking down there play and recycling, some lovely interchanges with Madesen. Love him or loathe him, CN has done a great Job in getting the squad we have now and attracting players like Kamara, Lamptey, Ronnie etc. moved on massively from 23/24, 24/25 Urss
Am I the only one thinking Madsen isn't really showing the form we saw last year and isn't currently our first choice ?
Still looks like he's coming back from his injury, and so far he hasn't played as well alongside Edwards. Edwards and him both want to play the 6 though, so that night just be a poor partnership - I expect Madsen will be back and firing soon. Showed glimpses last night IMO, just overshadowed a little by an amazing performance from Kamara
I thought Madsen did really well in the opening 20-30 minutes and faded a bit after, which isn't surprising given he had a bit of a disrupted preseason. I think also we'll just see him do less because he has better players around him - last season anything going through midfield had to go through him if it wanted to go forwards, but when we've had Edwards/Chair/Kamara in there they all offer that as well so we're not as dependent on Nico.

He has had a very interrupted start to the season. I think this is purely him managing his fitness, rather than burning out to soon. Also last season, he was our only progressive player and now the others have so far stepped up a level.

I agree. I think they’ve been told to hold back a bit the first few games back: Burrell and Poku both did it and Madsen is as well. Plus he doesn’t quite look match fit so passes are uncharacteristically going astray.
I think a fairer comparison is to Hayden, and Kamara is light years ahead so far.
Lets hope he can stay fit, as if he can do that every week we are in business.

I lost count of the number of times he broke counter-attacks by stretching one of those legs around the Cardiff player and nipping the ball away. Also, the amount of his passes that are played first time is great to watch - moves it on so quickly.

Could be great for Varane to learn from. If he can bring this into his game he might get that big money move to Nice that he is after

Kamala was excellent for about 50 minutes and then started to fade, which is understandable. I take your point about Madsen being surrounded by better players, but he should now challenge himself to be as influential with these better players as he was last season - this will make him a better player in the long run.
