All these Players Praying to God !!! 21:06 - Jan 11 with 4613 viewsnumptydumpty

What is all this...

So many drop to their knees, raise their hands in praise of the almighty or after adding their name to the scoresheet spend time in quiet contemplation.

Didn't happen in the 70s and 80s, they would have got their knees wet in the dirty puddles !!!!

I've got no problem with players thanking their God/Gods, It's their religion I'd Imagine and their religion obviously means so much to them, I've got no religion but for those who have and the way they celebrate good for them.

My Father had a profound influence on me, he was a lunatic.

I suppose it is better than someone looking to the skies arms stretched shouting 'hail mighty Satan'?

Never knowingly right.

What makes me laugh is when they score and point to whatever god to thank him. Well you didn't do that when you hit the corner flag with your previous effort. He wasn't much help then was he?

I'd like to add to that....and if they do live their lives according to their faith, in a kind, charitable and humble manner, then that surely has to be a good thing.

Better than going around and collecting criminal convictions or hanging out with gangsters.

Btw I'm not religious either.

I'd suggest it is a better celebration than the, 'spraying the fan base with an imaginary AK47' routine.

Personally, Rangers can pray in celebration to who, whom, or whatever after scoring, as long as they keep scoring by the bucketload!

Suppose it's whether you're joggin' for Jesus or skatin' for satan. To quote the country song.

All praying to God and trying to cheat their way via the ref to get favourable decisions.

Jesus would not approve and unlikely to pass through the eye of a needle.

But if they really do live their lives according to their faith they wouldn't be expressing it on a football pitch. No religion or theology calls for its followers to express their belief on a sports field. They are just poseurs and superstitious thats all.

An apology for the devil: it must be remembered that we have heard one side of the case. God has written all the books.

Had Gavin Peacock ‘seen the light’ when he was at QPR or did that come later? Can’t really remember how he celebrated his goals TBH.

Decko the man city player used to go to the crowd when he scored and point to his name on the back of his shirt.

How fun to be on the Same pitch as him to when he missed another sitter go up to him and do the thing he does when advertising his name on scoring.

Mischievous fun and the nonsense from the football fraternity.

Theatre but with their conditions.

Ha! That would make for some sensational opinion pieces.

"Where should the FA draw the line on the right to practice faith in the field of play?"

I saw a story recently about the rise in church attendance amongst young people. There do seem to be far more footballers performing these kind of on field practices these days.

Gavin Peacock saw the error of his ways and the fact he flirted with satan at Chelsea.

Began to see the light as he turned from the dark side when he played for Queens Park Rangers and then became the enlightened one.....

In reality, I think his religious life begun after football from what i read....

Footballers aren't short of a bob or two, so they could show their faith by turning up at the offertory and donating a few quid for the needy of the parish.

Do you think Eze does that, then?

Some people, whether religious or not, really don't want to win through dishonest means. I know I don't.

"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."
