Who exactly are you investing £7 million in the week before the end of the transfer window. We likely not get anyone anywhere near Kones qualities for that price at the end of a transfer window and we would be in need, so the selling club would put up their prices. Wheres this mystical £7 million player at least as good as Kone coming from.

Your points are valid, Numpty, but not sure why you had to get personal and call another posters opinion brainless. Obviously 10M would be a very good price for Kone and would represent a very good profit on our initial investment 12 months ago. This fits the model that has been much discussed. However, you are correct with the timing, it would give us little time to sign a replacement, even at 7m. If there is interest from Burnley (or anyone else), but Kone is happy to stay, then we would be wiser to wait until January and spend the next few months identifying his successor. Of course if we are top by Christmas and Kone is the divisions top scorer all bets are off! |

I would say that Burnley are as mad as Stoke at the prices they are paying for players & Kone is a far better player than Hirst who Stoke have just spent £10m on, although less experienced.
Personally, I don't think we have any player worth that figure, but the Hirst fee might mean that I've undervalued the market. I do agree though, that Rangers would accept that offer. | | | |

I assume the way we work now we have players lined up for this possibility - not guarenteed we can sign them of course.
Our issue has been not selling players when we could - whatever you think of the management generally their transfer business has improved the squad, but as mentioned that also means we will need to sell, rinse and repeat, and be prepared.
If we are basically moving to up front this year it's less of an issue as well as we will be expecting goals from our creative midfielders much more than in the past also I think. | |
