I predicted on here that the Haiti result wasn’t anywhere near good enough and so it appears. Goal difference is going to be the end of them but with a defence that is sub Championship level and an attack that went over 3 hours in this tournament without managing a shot on target they don’t deserve anything more.
Slowly passing it around in their own half with nobody looking to move it forward was a ridiculous tactic against Brazil. |  | | |

Yet another average team trying to play Pep ball and failing. Play to your strengths FFS - get the ball wide and sling in crosses for the forwards. When they actually did that, they posed a bit of a threat.
Doesn't help though when you have a negative manager. So you need to score a goal to try and improve your chances of scoring a goal - you wait till the 85th minute to bring on another striker.

I wouldn't be surprised if they do go through. Bit of a slap in the face though if they do to their previous world cup sides, especially the 86 team, if they go down as the first to reach a knockout World Cup game. 86 side v unlucky to face West Germany, Uruguay and Denmark although how Ferguson thought it a good idea to rest Souness for the pitch battle against Uruguay is unfathomable. The old footage of that is hilarious, the reaction against them from top Scottish brass calling them "scum" just because they put their foot in. I think our Graeme used to do similar....but in those days - even in Roy of the Rovers - all foreign footballers were seen as into the dark arts and an absolute disgrace compared to our spiffing British chaps. |  | | |

Yeah he made at least three crucial saves which have given Scotland a slim chance of qualifying. Might have been 5 or 6 nil otherwise.

As others have said, that Haiti result was a killer and in hindsight the celebration seems ridiculous now but if you can't get 3 or 4 past a defence consisting of a 36 year old who plays in the Ecuadorian league then it's hard to argue you've underachieved.

Irish football is basically the same as Scotland . Relying on championship players and not particularly good ones and a few premier leauge standards players .
apparently They had One shot on target since Mcginns winner against Haiti . Nowhere near good enough really .

I find the whole tartan army stuff so tiresome. The Boston bars that closed early to spite england fans was just embarrassing. I said to my friends that went they should goto those bars and not tip! but of course they add on the 20% 'surcharge' such a shame. Saw a few downtown Fort Worth after the Brazil game (probably e-pats), tried to have some of their legendary banter but they weren't interested in talking. And the yanks going on about the redcoats etc when england played there, completely oblivious that Scots fought with english |  |
