I find the whole tartan army stuff so tiresome. The Boston bars that closed early to spite england fans was just embarrassing. I said to my friends that went they should goto those bars and not tip! but of course they add on the 20% 'surcharge' such a shame. Saw a few downtown Fort Worth after the Brazil game (probably e-pats), tried to have some of their legendary banter but they weren't interested in talking. And the yanks going on about the redcoats etc when england played there, completely oblivious that Scots fought with english |

I used to delight in every disaster for Scotland, passionately wanted to beat Germany, and despised Argentina, but now I find I can't be a*sed.
Scotland are pretty rubbish frequently so are QPR, so I kind of get how their fans feel. So long as they don't go out of their way to slag off England, I don't mind 'em. (Water off a duck's back anyway, England are just better than them and they know it.)

Interesting we mentioned Cape Verde
Cape Verde relies heavily on foreign born with 14 of 26 (54%)players born overseas compared to Scotland 7 (27%)
I’m sure if the Scottish FA works hard enough on data, they could find players born elsewhere with Scottish ancestry / heritage (both parents and 2 sets of grandparents) and convince them to play for Scotland. The “easy” route is England…
I don’t think Curacao had any chance to even qualify if they didn’t pick 25 players born in the Netherlands. Only Tahith Chong is an ABC Islander. Curacao a virtual Netherlands ‘B’ team. |  |

This was a point made by Kris Boyd* on 5Live.
Having 3 ‘home’ nations imposed as top seeds meant a FIFA top ten side Morocco ended up in pot 2. Not that I hold too much sway with the rankings but apparently Brazil and Morocco 5 & 6.

Said on here after SGS resigned, the job he's most suited to and would likely do a great job in, would be as the head of the FA/the suit at the top.
He's a football man, knows the game from the roots up, can mingle with princes and supporters, and is trustworthy! He just wasn't able to go one step further as England manager, but three times he got us close and managed to do what no one since Venables achieved: turn us into a team.

The Scots problem is they seem to reach a glass ceiling when they qualify for a major final .
Which must be incredibly frustrating. My lot have always punched above their weight when we reached major finals.
Two victories over Italy and one over England have given us great joy over the last forty years and pretty much always qualifying for the next round . Scotland have never had that and the least their fans deserve is that .
Not surprised Clarke has jacked it in . He’s taken them as far as they will go .

Southgate at the FA. Yes, I agree and feel he would suit that job to a tee and would change things up in the board rooms and elsewhere, in the style of someone such as Trevor Brooking. I seem to remember Simon Barker ended up being an FA man himself.
One thing there is no denying with Southgate , he knows the modern way of fairness and such things as team bonding etc.
Either as an FA man, or failing that, the chief of the PFA would suit him also.
As for Scotland, any team that has Lyndon Dykes as second or third choice as centre forward, will achieve nothing on the world stage. We possibly all, might know this from our own such experiences of the not so distant past. [Post edited 28 Jun 15:02]
