Not quite championships but my Reading mates excited rhey have signed Conor Masterson who i actually liked though not a patch on our current CB’s. They’ve also signed Josh Knight who i swear we were after. |
I like(d) Conor, but I'm rather surprised to see him step back up after a middling time in a poor League Two Gillingham side.

As a Bwood semi-regular (off to Worthing today) he is worth it. Notoriously not a good trainer and he’ll have to be fitter to really make it but he was like watching Taarabt in that period he was embarrassing teams every week (at a lower level, obviously). Can understand why a Championship team decided to not go for the fee the Bwood chairman very resolutely held out for but the potential of the guy if he can get his head down is very high.
Finished on a slightly sour note the last couple of weeks but a joy to watch. The next off the rank is Rush who has scored eight in the first four games. Most of his goals seem to be from three yards but again way too good for the level. | | | |

Yes there are legitimate concerns about fitness, yes two of them are loans, but to get Lampety, Cirkin, Charles and Kamara for free is pretty incredible business and not sure the club has got sufficient credit for it. | | | |

Since the 23/24 season we have the lowest outlay on players (€23.63m) of any team currently in the Championship. We’re 11th out of 24 when it comes to a balance sheet ( €9.33m loss)
Caveat - These figures comes from Transfer market so are not entirely reliable as so many transfer fees are withheld but it gives a rough idea of where we are in relation to other teams. [Post edited 1 Sep 10:17]

I think they’re gambling big time. Their accounts don’t show massive revenue. So they must be amortising the transfer fees over, say five years. Which is fine if they get promoted or every transfer works out. But if say three out of the six players leave before the five years is up then they will have to crystallise the remaining transfer fee in that year. While also getting in new players. Of course the new rules allow for owners to put in more cash but still it could backfire if they don’t get promoted in the next five years. Even if those players tdon’t leave in the next five years they could be clogging up players in their squad unless they have only signed very young players who are likely to be at their peak throughout those five years. | | | |
