No chance. Man City won't have sent Charles out on loan to sit on the bench, plus it is a big jump for Ward. He was playing in Finland 18 months ago.

Signing these two keepers, seems, on paper to have solved a massive problem position in the same way, we did with the centre forward position last season.
Very good work from the powers that be to get not one but two seemingly big upgrades on what we had last season. And good work getting Walsh a league one loan and money for Murphy Cooper.
Thanks Clive and Zac for the interesting analyses of both too.
Now just need to resolve the centre mid role also. Need two first teamers and maybe another Academy player too. Again, that will be tough, but am sure we have a few names as targets. [Post edited 13 Jul 17:53]

Charles is a kid who looked dodgy to me when he visited LR and a Scottish keeper (I could just stop there really) who appears to already be a journeyman despite his relatively young age for a keeper.
I'm not really minded to regard the goal keeping position as being nicely boxed off quite just yet - I want to see them in action first. It's just a few weeks to playing Wall, so should quickly find out who the 1st choice is and if they are made of the right stuff. | | | |

It's in the article: we've gone from one of the statistically worst goalkeepers in the division who didn't pass the eye test either, to two statistically impressive goalies who do.

I do like how well travelled Ward is.
Takes someone who really wants to play football to move to the Finnish league as a 20 year old. A little like Burrell taking himself to Cove Rangers.
Doesn't mean he'll be any good, but an indicator of good character and drive. Stats back him up.
Looking forward to seeing Charles long distribution with Burrell up top, or Vale repeating his goal against Leicester (?) from Edwards ball over the top last season. Love seeing the Rs score goals of three passes or fewer from time to time. |  | | |

The important thing is patience and support. We need to understand that mistakes will happen especially when we play out from the back. Let's not jump on them as soon as they have a bad moment or two.
