Was surprising to see Santos. He didn't appear to be a popular player to pass to, however.
Got to admit that they really seemed to look his way and decide to give him a miss on multiple occasions. He didn’t really demand the ball either. Seemed not to really want it .
Maybe not the case but it really looked that way .
Other miscellaneous stuff:
I thought the shape of the side in that first hour was really good. Vale and Chair tucked in and playing nice triangles , albeit against side clearly behind us in their pre season preparations. Charles looked decent . Fitness looks much better than a year ago . Still look injury prone though and Kone especially looks like he’s hurt himself quite badly . Plenty of players limping around and picking up knocks . Early days but conditioning as well as fitness will have to improve too or they’ll all be laid up again. Unfair on the 9/10 that came on all at once. I understand why, you want the first IX playing together predominantly but can’t really criticise the ‘second string’ all being thrown in together . Pitch looks better than it has done for a long while. New ‘whiteout’ shirt looks like a normal rangers shirt being worn inside out . Horrible . No Saito? Anyone know why ? if Kone’s injury is a nasty one , would surely mean a striker would have to come in .
Edit- took the RK bit out as some don’t like it . I understand why . Wasn’t my intention for it to go all ‘Obikwu’. We’ll see though

Just back. Overall a very encouraging performance although the injuries to Koné and Madsen are concerning.
Keeper Charles caught my eye. He wasn’t really put under much pressure (very unlucky with Fiorentina’s first goal) but he looks confident and his distribution, as many here have observed, was impressive. I also like the way he moved up the pitch just behind the back four when we had possession. It felt like we had an extra outfield player. I think we had a glimpse of what an injury-free Poku might be capable of too.
As a non-footballing aside, during the pre-entry security check, a steward, on discovering a small plastic bottle of water in my pocket, told me to remove the cap and hand it over (the cap, not the bottle). Obviously I asked why and he explained that I might throw it onto the pitch.
Interestingly, the bottle itself (and contents) didn’t appear to raise any concerns. And, of course, once I’d made it to the concourse of the Upper Loft there were bottles galore, all freely available to buy at the various food and drink outlets and all coming complete with plastic caps attached.
Am I going mad or is there a perfectly good rationale behind this policy?

Kolli was at the game. I spoke to him afterwards and he said he’s back next week. But far better to push unfounded rumours around.

Yes - research has shown that people likely to throw bottles on the pitch are cost-conscious and not inclined to do so with overpriced bottles bought at the ground.

Don’t know if they were the same ones (in the JU vicinity of the Upper Loft) but I saw two of them too and had a word. They said, ‘We’re security, it doesn’t apply to us’.
And, while I appreciate that Kensal’s comment about ‘overpriced bottles’ (above) is tongue-in-cheek, it’s the obsession with the caps that I don’t get. Surely the bottle itself (plus contents) would potentially be more dangerous?
I mean, even the late Geoff Capes himself would be hard-pressed to do much damage throwing a Highland Spring plastic bottle cap, weighing less than an ounce, in the direction of the pitch (as an experiment I just put the cap of a bottle of Specsavers ‘Lens Bright’ lens cleaner on my kitchen scales. It barely registered).
