I can't be at the game - work - so am relying on the TV coverage hoping for a 2-1 win, expecting a 0-0.

Mbengue did more in his 15mins than Adamson did in the entire game. He’s ok but no more.
I thought Cirkin looked our best player when he came on; sharp, full of attacking intent. He was excellent [Post edited 9 Sep 22:03]

Adamson plays it safe, he is still inexperienced. Considering he was up against one of Charlton's best players he didn't do bad. Frustrating yes but safe and no silly errors.
He has progressed a lot, much better than last season.

All our real creativity comes from Chair, Lampty and Poku, two of whom now appear injured.
Kamara and Madsen quality in the middle, be we lacked urgency in that second half. It was like watching a training session. |
Only thing I'd add is that it would have been nice for any of the midfield four to follow their passes into the box; looking for the 1-2 or a lay back to hit it.
Too many times it felt like a pass was made and then they stood there admiring it rather than looking for the quick return ball. Annoying, but we take a point and move on. | |

Could not disagree more!
I didn’t think Adamson would make a player at all but he had a great game tonight against who is probably Charlton’s best player.
Thought he was solid and also used the ball well going forward
As for Cirkin I’m yet to see anything justifying the fuss.
He got done all ends up at the end twice.
First one was a big chance for them and then he was lucky not to get a card which could’ve been red in injury time. |
By your own admission you have a dreadful history on judging a player. Add your opinion on Cirkin to that list. | |

Oh well we take the point and the clean sheet and move on. We are solid but seem to still be short of being able to deliver killer blows or win a game we have more possession in! Generally a good response to Saturday and we are still unbeaten away. Charlton were always going to load their defence and we are yet to find a way past a low block. 4th though still, so good.
NB just remembered Lamptey went off injured. Just hope that isn't anything serious. Not even sure what happened. And Dunne, again hope he's okay. Hope our injuries aren't about to derail us again. [Post edited 9 Sep 22:26]

In a game we dominated possession, wasn’t surprised the ones that struggled most for us were Smyth and Lloyd, and that Madsen was back to his best. The second half subs weren’t a surprise in terms of who came off although for an inexperienced right back thought he did ok. My only criticism of him is that he’s still in that “very safe and cautious” mindset with the ball, which I get as he’s trying to show he can be trusted, but in a game like today, needed a bit more adventure like the left back.
I think that’s the best centre midfield pairing available to us based on what I’ve seen tonight. Chair, Poku, Kone…I’d have been confident of getting all 3 points had they been available. Just hope the injuries aren’t too bad. | | | |

Just a few games into the season of so much promise and yet again we are starting to struggle to see how good we may be due to injuries. It’s early, and I don’t feel the need to start changing the bedding yet but I’m getting the feeling we’ve been here before. It’s early,may be the same for many clubs but I’m getting a familiar whiff. |  |

They were sitting in and it needed a clever intricate moment from a tricky player, rather than pointless crosses. None of our tricky players, Chair, Saito, Poku were involved tonight. We constantly looked to go forward and moved the ball well between the lines. We just didn’t have the player who could create a bit of magic at the end of it. Regardless of where they finish in the league, prior to Saturday they’ve troubled the opposition they’d come across in their first 4 games. None of that today. Take the point and move on | | | |

Perhaps it's me but we are generally hopeless in winning away in London and tonight, for me, was same old Rangers in a derby. We didn't create much in our previous visit last season to the Valley until stoppage time and tonight felt like a repeat 90 minutes of creating next to nothing. Early days I know, but I fear our lack of goals could keep us in the bottom half of the table particularly in tandem with an injury prone squad. |  | | |

I've long advocated going to four divisions of 20 outside the Premier League. The second tier of professional football in this country playing 46 league games a season is madness.
You'd eliminate two thirds of those midweek games at a stroke. I don't think the current lower two divisions would want to give up gate money for four home games though. |  |

I don’t think Madsen is back to his best just yet. He’s getting there but I don’t think he trusts his body at the moment which is why he’s happy to play deep and keep the ball moving in a fairly uneventful way. As someone said earlier in this thread, he’s playing like a training game and not driving forward of looking for quick one twos around the box. Kamara was the one who played further forward in the second half when he’d be better suited at the back and Madsen should’ve okayed further forward.
It was only in the last 5-10 minutes where he was playing around the edge of the box and putting penetrating balls in behind their defence.
Two up top didn’t work and it has to be said playing Lloyd is almost like playing* with 10 men. | |

Last season we came here and dug in with no plan to so much as go past the halfway line. This season we were all over them and they basically accepted a point at home and played to get it. Shame we couldn't finish them off but it's progress of a sort. |

Confused how jimmy dunne limped off badly at half time and then came out limping badly for second half, signalling to come off within 60 seconds of the restarts. Why didn’t we send him out early to check, lost a subs window as a result. Just a bizarre thing to do. So much to question about how we behave around injuries. | | | |
