Love mince pies. A good deep alcoholic filling in a good short pastry. Warmed up with a glass of port. What’s not to like. A couple of years back Asda sold their ‘home made’ range, with orange peel in the pastry. Was superb. Didn’t see them last year.

I thought mince pies were rank when I was a kid. About five years ago I bought some..low and behold, I liked 'em.

Today, we walked into the Home Depot (builders' merchants), in Watertown Ma, jaysus, the place was full of Christmas gear, including hundreds of artificial trees. Very nice, but give us a break, we still have Thanksgiving to do yet!
