Soccer AM on 06:46 - Mar 30 with 3842 views | Dorse | It's not been the same since Quentin Bumjoy was reduced to tears after Helen accidentally brushed against him in the corridor. It took 45 mins and a basket of pugs to coax him out of the toilets for his interview.

Soccer AM on 08:41 - Mar 30 with 3650 views | Toast_R | There is a very good article a couple of years old on The Athletic about the show. Gives you a good insight into how much work was put in to its production when Lovejoy was the boss. He worked his team very hard. When he left, he took all the writers with him and it was clearly never the same after that. Having watched some old clips from the Andy Goldstein and Max Rusheden era, you can see how uncomfortable they both were going through the motions, especially the Soccerette sketches which they both hated doing. It did become a shadow of its self very quickly and the guests went from some of the biggest music acts around to a weekly appearance of that fat waster Neil Ruddock in his vest. Should have been binned off a decade ago. [Post edited 30 Mar 2023 8:42]

I liked it briefly when I first discovered it, maybe twenty years ago, but the comedy in it quickly became self-referential and smug. It never moved on from the few good jokes that it had and was extremely jaded long before the Watford/Chelsea fan left.

Scientists are currently trying to discover the unit of measurement small enough to describe that amount. It os believed to be somewhere in the region of a thousandth of a Rees Mogg, equivalent to four four millionths of a Mrs Brown's Boy.

Soccer AM on 10:15 - Mar 30 with 3503 views | robith | My favourite Soccer AM story is that it caused the split of beloved niche indie band Hope of The States Frontman Sam Herlihy said in an interview: “I think we felt that a lot. You think, ‘God, being in a band is supposed to be fun. We’ve gotta catch a break one of these days.’ I saw Serge from Kasabian on Soccer AM recently and he had to kick the ball through these inflatable hoops and he did this little flick and absolutely belted it through the hoop. He can play but it was a hell of a lucky shot. He took his top off and walked out of the studio and I thought, ‘God, that guy’s luck is right up there’, and you see that in bands and it’s amazing. “I was always really gutted that we never tended to get those sort of breaks where you take your top off and march round. If that’d been me I probably would have hit a supporting joint in the roof and brought the whole building down.”" | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Not you and me certainly. Have you tried to watch Sky Sports News recently? I mean, it was always dire, but my God.
Soccer AM on 10:40 - Mar 30 with 3393 views | Snipper | A mate and myself appeared on Soccer AM back in 2003. Even though Helen Chamberlain had to shoot off quickly, she had plenty of pics taken with us all. As did the guests, Peter Beardsley & Bobby Zamora. We went to the rugby club bar next door afterwards, and Lovejoy didn’t even want to acknowledge us and the others on the show that day. All the rest of the regulars on the show were brilliant. They’d all be talking and having a drink with you. Blimey, 20 years ago.
Soccer AM on 10:44 - Mar 30 with 3361 views | ted_hendrix | I kind of think I know what your talking about but In all honesty I'm quite happily oblivious to know what your talking about. I can only guess that something like a 'Sky Package' has fell on somebody's bonce and killed him or her stone dead? No need to answer.

I can’t watch it , I saw something the other day with Steven Warnock as a pundit Jesus that was brutal , him sitting there with his Arsene Wenger glasses making out he was a football professor Was a particular low even by Sky Sports standards

Him and Sue Smith are the regulars on Monday mornings, and I can’t stand either of them.I only turn it on for ref watch with Dermot Gallagher to explain why var was right to award Moan Utd another dubious goal while denying the smaller clubs goals.
Soccer AM on 17:57 - Mar 30 with 2787 views | thame_hoops | Like others said, I didn’t mind it with lovejoy, and it was something fun to watch, hungover on a Saturday morning. I’ve never found that tubes guy funny, whenever I put it on, it was people dressed up as the Gallaghers? The whole crew look like a bunch of people you see in the pub that would annoy the hell out of you

Soccer AM on 22:53 - Mar 30 with 2569 views | numptydumpty | Used to think it was hilarious as a young un but did a particularly weird thing as a young fellow watching the show the day after Torquay lost in the play off final. Hells bells vocabulary that day was monosyllabic and surly and me being an idiot trumped up little kid wrote an email to sky complaining about her lack of professionalism. I was a total d*ck as a young chap. Numpty indeed. Gotta say though think me and my sad other QPR mate both quite had a little bit of a sabre light shining for Young Helen !!! Not watched since Jimmy Bullard on the show !!! [Post edited 30 Mar 2023 22:56]

Soccer AM on 08:01 - Mar 31 with 2364 views | westberksr | can't believe its been running since 1995. thought it was pretty good to start with as something completely different and a bit of a fans perspective on footy and the Saturday ritual. Linking in with some pretty good musical references it was light hearted fun. a hungover alternative to Fantasy Football league with Skinner & Baddiel on a Friday night haven't watched in for probably 20+ years and stumbled across it recently and for old times sake watched about 10 minutes. felt like 10 hours and reminded me why I've cut back my tv subscriptions to virtually nothing. (thank you streaming box) I feel sorry for the youngsters who don't have decent TV to recall with fond memories and i feel sorry for us lot that had decent TV to remember and this load of shite to endure now.
