| The never ending Question.... on 23:02 - Aug 16 with 8468 views | numptydumpty | I have got a feeling he is to be sold. Rumours abound to himself being moved onto a French club. He scored a worldie for the development squad early last week, but wasnt selected for thier game on Friday. I think the way we are setting upnto play ie at pace and high press, are two qualities he has not shown at all. And he does seem to not be as fit in terms of stamina for the games that everyone else achieves. His way of playing, would not fit in with our fast paced, fast movement of the ball. He is unlikely to be selected away from home, and i think Stephan admitted he may be moved on in an earlier interview. Its all rather frustrating, as he is still only 21, and having played in around 50 odd games and scored a fair number of goals, its one of those, that you feel is a missed opportunity. | |

How it is? As u said his style of playdosnt suit the way we are trying to play , he dosnt have real pace , inst Aval on a reg.basis due to injuries , Lloyd ks now way ahead of him in the pecking order if an offer is there from a French club it’s time to take it and wish him well .

| The never ending Question.... on 00:27 - Aug 17 with 8253 views | Stocktake | Not fit enough, injury prone and lacks pace? - we could bin off half the squad for those reasons nevermind the best development prospect in years. If we are to achieve the mythical play off place, we will need his quality at least as a useful squad player. Most likely explanation - he's peed off cycling Ben and therefore is being frozen out. | | | |

I think the coaching staff should be trying to mould that natural ability into a player who does work in this system. He's strong in the air, good with the ball at his feet, and is a brilliant finisher. That is enough potential to be worth working on, try to dig into his conditioning issues, and develop him. Lloyd on the other hand is ahead of him on sheer force of will and endeavour alone. He's a very effective option off the bench to act as a bit of a battering ram and chase after the ball, but IMO I think he lacks the technical ability to ever be 1st choice striker at this club. Kolli's ceiling is far higher and makes him worth persisting with for me.

he broke into the sqaud 3 seasons ago and hes still not secured at least a reg place on the bench let alone starting line up.you can only mould what wants to be molded , does he want to put the hard work in ? alfie is raw as hell prob always will be hes also happy to have been on loan and has worked his arse off toe get a chance in the squad , if the plan is to play a high press for most of the game he will be gettin g plnety of pitch time , kolli techinall good no pace no work rate wont.

Agree with Wombat, am 100% certain the club have tried to make him fit enough for ninety minutes full on, as opposed to always having to remove him after sixty, because he his blowing big time. If the player doesnt want to improve on this, then although the odd goal scored here and there, there would be more goals not scored and more conceded with only having ten players that are playing within the team strategy. Clearly, he has not been able or willing to do this. Am expecting a sale or loan with obligation to buy deal, in the next couple of weeks. [Post edited 17 Aug 10:16]

He is clearly going now but it doesn’t change the fact that if you are chasing a game and need a goal, Kolli can come off the bench and score it; Alfie is a lovely lad but will never traps balls or score goals in the Championship and if we are all honest we know he will probably be doing well to establish himself in L1.

seems the new and improved alfie has worked hard on that side of his game , should have scored sat after a mammoth passing move from us true , but his overall game gives the team way more help than a player who when looses the ball rarley checks back , to recover it if you could inject kollis ability to finish into aflie then you would have a very decent player at this level. even if kolli did somehow get fit at present hes fifth choice on the strikers list at his age thats not good enough for him . seems to be a fair few rumours of his impeding depature oxford being the latest name linkned with him on a perm deal but its rumoured not to be the deal that kolli fancies .

I suppose with Rayan and Oxford that is the nub of the problem wit his (and his team's) expectations verses where others see him currently. But I can't agree on Alfie, I'm afraid. I know its harsh, but its flogging a dead horse. A striker needs to score goals, and simply running around a lot and closing down doesn't make you a Championship player. Oxford are now L1 and its instructive that they want to buy Kolli and not Lloyd.

So according to Wiki (usual caveats about accuracy etc), Alfie made 89 senior first team appearances and scored the grand total of 8 goals up until the end of last season across all competitions. Admittedly a lot of those were probably substitute appearances (it doesn't specify how many) but the majority of those were either at National League or League 1 level. For us it was 31 appearances and 2 goals (again, I admit most would have been as sub). It says Kolli has played 56 times (all at Championship level, so harder) and has scored 11 goals. A lot of those would also be as sub and some would have been on the wing. We also know that he has the best goal per minute average at the club. I accept your point that Kolli might not make it as a Championship player or higher owing to the issues alluded to. But the point with him is that he has the POTENTIAL to make it. Given its some insanely low number that do (is it 1 in 100 academy products?), I just think you have to focus ruthlessly on the ones who MIGHT make it. I say this regretfully, not remotely gleefully with Alfie, but I just don't see him ever making it as a regular starter for us. One of his two goals for us I seem to remember he almost scored by accident! That is not to diss him, and we might still mutually benefit if we develop him sufficiently to sell to a L1 club. As you say, with his work rate and great attitude he could carve out a professional career.
| The never ending Question.... on 13:35 - Aug 17 with 6682 views | Lblock | I've been a staunch supporter of Rayan but I have to admit I'm bored with it all and a parting is needed (not in Kolli's hair obviously) Certain individuals within the club have won and we need to let a prospect slide away. I don't doubt Kolli has to shoulder some blame, especially on his personal fitness and lasting 90 minutes at this level, but the vast majority of fault lays with the club IMHO. Poor man management, poor discipline enforcement, poor PR and if rumours are to be believed then really poor HR approach in the canteen!!! Sad state of affairs. | |

totally agree but how long do you keep trying before say he aint intrested in doing some of the work for himself , extra training , extra fitness extra ball work ? hes got massive potential but for his career hes been constantly injured fitness is pretty poor and hasnt improved much , hes missed the last two pre season dues to injuries / fitness issues , if you was a player and u was being over looked when you was fit woulnt you try harder ? two coahses have said he knows what he needs to do to become a squad member. not on os us here wouldnt grab with both hands the chance he has and has had to become a footballer for the team u have allegedly supposrted as a child , feck me id be trying everything to get fitter become better so somethings stopping him form going them extra yars and its prob not a niggling hamstring injury either , plenty of players at his age have shown promise but due to various reasons fell by the wayside and soon become , anyone remember ! in alfies case some players develop later but fair dues to him hes took what ever chances gievn to him to help him improve hopefully it works [Post edited 17 Aug 14:45]

| The never ending Question.... on 14:33 - Aug 17 with 6511 views | PlanetHonneywood | With or without him, QPR are moving on!!! If QPR need to take a look at their role, then fine: that is on us if we could have handled things better! However, to what extent it's on him and his peeps, we'll probably never know. Fact is that while there's talent there, he's forever injured, struggles with fitness, and if he won't go on loan to hone his skills, as far, far better players than him have, well we're not going to lose much when he goes based on what we've actually seen over the last few years. Seems best for all concerned that he moves on. Shame, but c'est la vie. | |
